Job description

Overview

Make an Impact!

At McGraw Hill we create best-in-class, next-generation learning platforms that are used by millions of students and educators worldwide from kindergarten through graduate school. Our goal is to accelerate student success through intuitive and effective learning tools and content that maximize a teacher’s time and a student’s learning experience. We do all of this in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can grow your career in a way that fits into your life.

How can you make an impact?

As the Product Owner for the English Language Arts Product Management team, you will lead the creation and development of digital and print education solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including curriculum designers, educators, engineers, and marketers, to deliver a comprehensive literacy program that aligns with educational standards, and market requirements, and supports diverse student & teacher needs.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Literacy curriculum. This includes understanding the customer journey and identifying the important moments that will define the product.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, gathering and prioritizing use cases to ensure the curriculum meets the needs of students, teachers, and educational institutions.
  • Create and manage the backlog, clearly defining user stories, acceptance criteria, and priorities for the content development team.
  • Write epics and stories based on themes that have been prioritized from the journey maps for the content delivery teams to execute.
  • Work closely with agile teams, including members of academic design: content developers, product designers, assessment developers, and internal reviews, to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of content manuscripts, prototypes, or templates for production.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to provide guidance and clarity to the team.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities within the educational landscape.
  • Monitor and report on product performance, leveraging data and analytics to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Engage with educators, administrators, and other stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure the product aligns with the latest educational standards and practices. This includes attending Teacher and Sales Advisory Boards.
  • Influence cross-functional content design teams to execute on the iterative, product roadmap set forth by your Literacy Product Management team.
  • Ensure delivery of milestones that support the Product P&L, including file release dates, print material warehouse dates, ACR (Accessibility Conformance Review) testing, digital releases, and go-to-market activities like sampling.

We are looking for someone with…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Curriculum Design, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in the education or EdTech sector.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working on Agile teams.
  • Familiarity with print and digital curriculum design, including knowledge of educational standards related to English Language Arts.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to drive product success.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all students.
