Job description

About Faire

Faire is an online wholesale marketplace built on the belief that the future is local — independent retailers around the globe are doing more revenue than Walmart and Amazon combined, but individually, they are small compared to these massive entities. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so that small businesses everywhere can compete with these big box and e-commerce giants.

By supporting the growth of independent businesses, Faire is driving positive economic impact in local communities, globally. We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

About This Role

We are looking for a Strategic Finance Senior Lead that can guide, measure and help drive efficient growth through strong investment allocation across a variety of upper and lower funnel channels through deep partnership with the marketing organization.

The Strategic Finance team at Faire is organized around both product roadmap pillars and functional coverage areas (e.g. departments or company-wide objectives). This role would serve as the primary Finance Business Partner (i.e. “mini-CFO”) to the Marketing organization and span across both the Retailer Growth and Brand pillars.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead all annual, quarterly, and long-range financial planning for the Marketing organization alongside Marketing team leads. Work closely with senior marketing leaders and channel managers to develop, understand, and track their execution plans against goals.
  • Translate business activities and key performance inputs into financial outputs that allow us to reason about return on investment of specific marketing channel tactics, trade off ROI of the next marginal dollar spent, and help optimize performance at a portfolio level.
  • Strengthen the foundation supporting our customer acquisition engine by improving the processes and systems we use to forecast and analyze financial performance of marketing activities, while enabling a growth culture bias for action and experimentation.
  • Communicate / educate the financial narrative of marketing investment activities to various internal and external stakeholders.

This role will require the ability to spot opportunities/risks, develop hypotheses, pressure test inputs, forecast outputs and execute in-depth analyses to translate data into insights and make recommendations to Faire’s leadership team based on findings.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Corporate or Strategic Finance, ideally in partnership with Growth or Performance Marketing organizations
  • Exposure to investing in marketing channels as a lever to drive efficient growth. The ideal candidate would have experience with measuring success on both performance/paid marketing investments and brand/awareness oriented strategies
  • Strong business & financial acumen with understanding of leading marketing technology and vendor solutions, LTV/CAC modeling, TAM analysis, or marketplace business models
  • Excellent communication skills – able to synthesize data and metrics to tell a compelling story, tailor content to different audiences, strong writing and presentation skills. Maintains a high bar for separating signal from noise
  • A get things done mindset - you are resourceful and not afraid to roll up your sleeves when necessary to move forward tactically. Your approach to monitoring the performance of marketing ROI is one that balances transparency with execution velocity
  • Strong project management skills - can structure and manage complex cross-functional projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Sharp attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other relevant field.

Salary range:

San Francisco: the pay range for this role is $181,000 - 248,500 per year.

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule - Faire employees will be expected to go into the office 2 days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, effective the week of January 13, 2025. Additionally, in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year.

Applications for this position will be accepted for a minimum of 30 days from the posting date.
