Data Connects Us.

About the Role:

At Confluent, we are on the lookout for a talented Senior Legal Counsel to become an integral part of the Confluent Legal Team. Situated in a London remote/office hybrid, this position offers the unique opportunity to support our UK Sales Team while directly reporting to the Regional Associate General Counsel (AGC). The successful candidate will enjoy the best of both worlds: the flexibility of remote work along with the stimulating environment of our central London office. We’re looking for individuals who are ready to face new challenges, contribute meaningful ideas, and grow with us. If you’re eager to expand your professional horizons while making a tangible difference, we’d be excited to hear from you.
Join us at Confluent, where your contributions matter, and help us shape the future of real-time data. Let’s achieve something remarkable together.

What You Will Do:

  • Be the Backbone: Offer primary support to Confluent’s UK Sales organization by being the go-to legal advisor.
  • Master Negotiator: Take charge of structuring, drafting, and negotiating intricate commercial agreements, including privacy, regulatory, and security terms.
  • Innovate and Enhance: Embrace leading-edge projects aimed at scaling, growing, and enhancing the department's efficiency.
  • Educate and Collaborate: Provide valuable training to the Sales team, engage with third-party partners and customers, and foster strong partnerships across various functions.
  • Solve and Strategize: Tackle issues associated with complex commercial transactions and handle various ad hoc legal requests, all while being an independent thinker and risk manager.

What You Will Bring:

  • Experienced Professional: At least 5 years of robust experience in technology transactions, notably in PaaS/SaaS subscription agreements, license/support agreements, and professional services agreements with large enterprise customers.
  • Knowledge Expert: Deep understanding of open-source licensing, business models, privacy terms including DPAs, GDPR, and the regulatory nuances within the UK and EU financial services.
  • Skillful Communicator: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for empathetic negotiations.
  • Decision Maker: Demonstrated ability to tackle complex issues, strike a balance between legal requirements and business needs, all with minimal supervision.
  • Team Spirit: Shows ownership, integrity, generosity, and resilience with a good sense of humor.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Slack, G suite, MS Office, and adaptable to new technologies.
  • Legal Qualification: Qualified to practice law in the UK.
