Job description

The Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing the assigned operational functions, with an initial primary focus on managing and optimizing operations related to Warner Pacific’s level-funded insurance products. The Director of Operations ensures efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and high-quality service delivery across departments that support brokers, client agencies, Warner Pacific’s sales teams, employer groups, and carrier partners.  The Director of Operations will have responsibility for managing a remote, national team supporting multiple cross-functional projects focused on improving business processes that enhance the administration and service of level-funded, large group, and small group products. The Director will interact with teams across Sales, Operations, IT, and Finance, reporting to the Senior Director of Operations. A key aspect of the role is ensuring that service standards and turnaround times are consistently met, especially within the context of level-funded insurance products.  Additionally, the Director will lead the implementation of operational strategies aimed at enhancing the customer experience, managing seasonal employees, and promoting process improvements that drive efficiency and cost savings. 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Management of Level-Funded Products: Manage the operations team, ensuring quality control, compliance with regulations, and timely service delivery to brokers, employer groups, and carrier partners.
  • Resource Allocation: Reassign casework and adjust workflows to meet departmental objectives, particularly in the high-complexity space of level-funded insurance, where claims management and underwriting are critical to operational success.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain robust business relationships with carriers and brokers who offer level-funded insurance, ensuring that operational teams are aligned with product specifications and market expectations.
  • Broker/Agency Onboarding: Manage new broker/agency onboarding processes, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and carrier policies.
  • Cross-Functional Projects: Lead cross-functional teams focused on process improvements and cost-saving initiatives. This includes coordinating between Sales, IT, and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of new initiatives.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate operational workflows related to level-funded insurance, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Technical Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in the operational management of level-funded insurance products, including knowledge of stop-loss insurance, self-funded claims processes, and underwriting standards is required
  • Proven leadership and cross-functional team management skills, with the ability to align diverse departments toward common goals.
  • Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for level-funded products, including compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of complex insurance products like level-funded and self-funded insurance.
  • Experience in leading large-scale projects and influencing without authority

People Leadership Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, capable of interacting with brokers, carriers, and internal departments to drive product success.
  • Proven track record of successful employee engagement, leadership development, and coaching initiatives.
  • Ability to lead teams and organizations through large scale change
  • Curious mindset with the ability to accept both upward and downward feedback. 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Organizational Psychology, Insurance or a related field, or equivalent industry experience of 10+ years.
  • 5+ years in an associate director-level role or higher, with a proven track record in managing operations for level-funded insurance products.
  • Experience leading service enhancement projects that improve the customer experience and operational efficiency, particularly within level-funded insurance.

Compensation

  • Annual Salary Range*: $120,000 - $145,000 per year
  • Actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level.
