Position Overview:
Reporting to VP of Product, the Manager, Product Owner will be responsible for playing an integral role in developing new products and improving existing on market ones.
This role is 3-faceted, to lead ART (Agile Release Train) level activities for one component of the Omnipod system, lead a team of high-performing Product Owners, and lead one Agile scrum team within their ART.
A successful Manager, PO will thrive in an Agile environment by defining, prioritizing, and delegating the product backlog for multiple Agile teams focused on hardware and embedded software for a single component of an integrated consumer medical device system. In collaboration with a cross-functional team, a successful Manager, PO will help ensure delivery across multiple agile teams within an Agile Release Train (ART).
They will collaborate on a day to day basis with the following key stakeholders; Product Management, Product Marketing, Program Management, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineering, System Engineering, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, the Executive Leadership Team, and external partners.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the team and key stakeholders above; maintain oversight to the overall ART backlog to ensure alignment on the vision, goals, and priorities of the product.
- Closely partner with their Product Management counterparts to ensure an accurate backlog for development to deliver on.
- Lead and direct one Agile team through software development lifecycle.
- Provide the predictability of product readiness timeline with the data-driven estimation.
- Manage a team of Product Owners to ensure the consistency, continuity, and successful implementation of the product backlog across teams.
- Communicate component roadmap, development readiness, risks, and dependencies to cross-functional teams and management.
- Lead requirements gathering and readiness efforts on epics, features, and user stories.
- Collaborate across other product and engineering teams to ensure there is a coordinated approach.
- Drive backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint review ceremonies in collaboration with Agile Delivery Office.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time.

Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and 10 years related experience or master’s degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a Ph.D. and 2-4 years of experience.
- Direct people management experience preferred
- Familiarity with software development principles and knowledge of the full lifecycle of a software development product strongly preferred
- Experience leading cross-functional teams with stakeholders. Strong influential and partnering skills.Demonstrated product owner, project management or business analysis skills, with a proven track record of analyzing data or requirements and measuring program performance with data.
- Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills with audiences with various levels of technical background.
- Strong project, risk, schedule, communication, change, and deliverable management skills.
- Broad business and technical acumen and proven experience working effectively in a matrix organization and ability to collaborate effectively across geographies.
- Integrated process, people, quality, and commitment-centric approach to getting work done – strong customer service orientation.
- 5+ yrs. as a Product Owner; matrix leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in the Medical Device industry is a plus
- Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Diabetes experience or knowledge a plus
Additional Information
The position can be remote, hybrid or in-person at our Acton, MA headquarters or San Diego CA technology center. The preferred location is near San Diego, CA or Acton, MA.
Travel is estimated at 25% but will flex depending on business need.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $131,300.00 - $197,300.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
