Job Description
  1. Develop designs for Packaging machinery using and applying engineering principles & Customer machine specifications. 
  2. Confer with engineering team & technical sales & sales personnel, to clarify specifications & develop designs.
  3. Review drawings and bills of material within engineering team members to ensure QC.
  4. Review drawings with manufacturers to determine suitability to manufacture and cost to manufacture new designs.
  5. Selects design options which assure proper performance, reliability, safety and manufacturing economy.
  6. Refer to previous designs for possible modification to meet current project needs and customer specifications, and to standardize machine & create Modular designs
  7. Complete mechanical engineering designs by calculating operational parameters such as speeds, gear ratios, drives, torques, velocities, etc.
  8. Respond to questions from purchasing/manufacturing personnel for clarification of drawings and or operational /process issues .
  9. Support field service for machine troubleshooting as needed.
  10. Preparation and attending internal / external audits for dept.
  11. Participation in functional and cross functional Continuous improvement initiatives
  12. Complete other tasks as assigned by Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automation.

Must have at least 3+ years’ experience in design and development of automated machinery

Must have 3+ years’ experience reading and interpreting complex drawings of mechanical assemblies

Additional Information

Experience working with automated equipment in the food or packaging industry is preferred

Proven proficiency in the design and development of successful commercial products.

SAP and SolidWorks proficiency is desired
