Overview Of The Role
We are in search of a Staff Accountant to enhance our financial operations. This vital position will involve assisting the Controller with various accounting tasks, such as construction and grant project accounting, payroll management, account analysis, variance analysis, and monthly reporting. You will play a crucial role in tracking our financial performance while closely collaborating with team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues to oversee and assess the financial status of projects and grants, ensuring accurate allocation of resources for payroll.
- Prepare monthly reports analyzing budget versus actual performance and identifying risks or opportunities. Conduct special analyses as required.
- Contribute to the monthly and year-end closing operations by undertaking assigned tasks, including preparing entries, reconciliations, workpapers, financial statements, and analyses.
- Spearhead the design and execution of process enhancements to improve efficiency and adapt to external changes, including defining roles, establishing procedures, leveraging technology, and creating process swim lane analyses.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Sage Intacct, is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Exceptional organizational, communication, problem-solving, research, and follow-up abilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), ledgers, payroll, account analysis, KPI variance analysis, and monthly reporting.
- Experience with construction-related accounting functions is preferred.
- Previous experience in an accounting capacity within a nonprofit organization is a plus.
Location: Remote within the U.S.
Travel Requirements: Limited travel may be necessary based on organizational needs.

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Compensation: $80,000, commensurate with experience
