About the role:

The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, proficient in using technology to deliver engaging online lessons, and skilled at fostering a supportive and interactive virtual classroom environment. They should be proficient in and capable of instructing Mathematics at the Secondary level. This role involves planning and delivering curriculum-aligned lessons, assessing student progress, and maintaining high standards of academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

Lesson Planning and Delivery
  • Design and implement interactive, engaging online lessons aligned with the National Standards Curriculum (NSC), CSEC syllabus, and City and Guilds curriculum standards

  • Utilize various digital tools and platforms to enhance the learning experience. Deliver live-streamed classes and prerecorded lessons to students.

Tiered Learning Lessons

  • Develop lessons that include multiple levels of difficulty to meet the diverse needs of all students.

  • Create differentiated instructional materials that cater to varying student abilities and learning styles.

  • Implement formative assessments to identify student readiness levels and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Provide targeted support and enrichment activities to ensure all students can achieve learning objectives.

 Student Assessment and Feedback

  • Develop and administer LMS-ready assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on assignments and assessments.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and participation.

 Classroom Management

  • Create a positive and inclusive virtual classroom environment.

  • Implement effective virtual classroom management strategies to encourage student engagement and participation.

  • Address any behavioral or technical issues promptly and professionally.

 Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to develop and improve online instructional methods.

  • Participate in virtual meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

  • Student Support Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Foster a love for learning through creative and interactive teaching methods.

 Technical Proficiency

  • Stay updated with the latest educational technology and tools.

  • Provide guidance to students on using online platforms effectively.

  • Ensure all online teaching activities comply with data privacy and security standards.

 

What will a typical day look like?

 

As a Virtual Instructor, your day involves:

  • Coming in-studio to conduct live streamed classes where you deliver interactive lessons, monitor participation, and engage students through various instructional techniques.

  • Facilitating small group sessions based on learning levels, providing targeted instruction and support.

  • Record-keeping using a learning management system (LMS) for tracking performance

  • Daily Collaboration with colleagues through virtual and in-person meetings to discuss instructional strategies and student progress.

  • Engaging in professional development activities ensures you stay updated on best practices and new technologies.


Requirements

You are a sharp, energetic and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about implementing solutions that transform the status quo. You are a dynamic individual with:

 

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in education.

  • At least two (2) years of experience in a teaching role.

  • Proficiency in office tools and e-learning technologies

  • Strong interest in educational technology and instructional design principles
