As the preeminent international service organization of the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans with a passion for service abroad to work with communities and create lasting change. Volunteers develop sustainable solutions to address challenges in Education, Health, Economic Development, Agriculture, Environment and Youth Development. Through their Peace Corps experiences, Volunteers gain a unique cultural understanding and a lifelong commitment to service that positions them to succeed in today's global economy. Since President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 240,000 Americans of all ages have served in 142 countries worldwide.
The Ministry of Education Arts and Culture in Namibia has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Data Analysis Specialist. The Directorate of Education, Arts & Culture – Otjozondjupa Regional Council collects a substantial amount of data and numerous reports from schools that require thorough analysis, tracking, and implementation. However, due to a skills gap, this critical work often remains unaddressed. The Regional Office has identified a need for additional technical support and capacity to effectively create, implement, and guide the planning and development initiatives of the Ministry.
The PCRV will work with the Chief Education Officer: Planning and Development to design and implement data collection processes to gather accurate and relevant data from schools and ensure data integrity and accuracy by validating and cleaning the collected data. The PCRV will also co-facilitate workshops on data collection, accuracy, and analysis and train and support school staff in data collection methods and the importance of data accuracy.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Namibia together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
