We are seeking to expand the Consumer Solutions and the VPP team with the addition of a senior‐ level, experienced Director of Grid Services. In this role, you will bring your experience to bear in building and overseeing the growth of energy products in multiple state and market programs, and initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying VPP programs and initiatives, defining the economic model and value of third‐party owner participation, designing the internal model and process for participation, and implementing the program from start to finish. This role will also be responsible for Customer Success which includes collaboration with the customer solution consultants who provide direct‐to‐customer enrollment and interactions in these programs. This role includes full ownership of the business unit's P&L, ensuring profitability, cost efficiency, and sustainable growth to meet or exceed financial targets.
Director of Virtual Power Plants will bring experience and an expansive network in utilities, markets, regulatory and policy.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Partner with Customer Solutions, Technology, Product, and other cross‐ collaborative stakeholder teams to drive development and implementation of VPP programs. Develop relationships and ideate on joint opportunities for VPPs with utilities, regulators and market operators, as well as private stakeholders pursuing the development and implementation of VPPs.Design multi‐year VPP program process and models, and ensure the continued improvement of participant experience in VPPs.Inform Product and Technology build‐out for VPPs, and ensure cross‐collaborative alignment and adherence to project timelines and tasks.Ideate and establish reporting metrics for internal leaders, as well as provide excellent and timely communication to program participants, inclusive of program participation data and rewards.Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed financial targets by managing business unit P&LRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:10+ years of experience in utility business development, grid services, or energy program leadership, with a proven record of success in the utility sector. Deep understanding and experience with the underlying VPP technologies used in the VPP programs and initiatives is paramount. This role will be responsible for program design in the GoodLeap technology suite, troubleshooting and internal stakeholder interactions in the technology team. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, energy management, or related field required; Master’s degree highly preferred. Extensive network across the US utility market, including relationships with utility executives, state regulators, public service commissioners, and key energy policy stakeholders. Extensive understanding of demand response, energy storage, and VPP (Virtual Power Plant), with a proven ability to sell utility‐friendly solutions. Strong background in navigating regulatory frameworks and building strategic relationships with government bodies and regulatory agencies. Ability to lead and influence high‐level decision‐makers with utility organizations and regulatory bodies. Ability to develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed financial targets for business unit. Proven experience in designing and executing business strategies that drive market share growth in competitive energy markets. Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship‐building skills, with experience managing high‐stakes negotiations and complex partnerships. Excellent written and oral communication skills Superb attention to detail and work ethic Comfortable working in fast‐paced, unstructured environment Passionate about the renewable energy sector Compensation: $175k-$220k DOE
