Job description

Role Overview:

ABS Global, a Genus company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Beef on Beef Product Line Manager to manage and grow our beef product line, ensuring it meets market demand and aligns with business objectives. This position can be remote with travel estimated at 20%. The Beef on Beef Product Line Manager has primary accountability for overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from concept to market launch, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the product line's success. The successful candidate will have specialized expertise in product management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive sales and profitability.

 

We are looking for visionary leaders with strong financial acumen and strategic thinking abilities, capable of deeply understanding our unique market dynamics and customer trends to help shape and execute product strategies that drive a profitable future for ABS. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to create and implement short- and long-term product strategies and plans that deliver measurable financial results across various our different customer segments globally. 

 

In these newly established roles, the Product Line Management (PLM) team will collaborate closely with marketing, commercial and strategic accounts, and product development (PDV) teams to anticipate market shifts and customer needs and adapt our business and product portfolio as needed. The team will also play a key role in long-term product planning and forecasting demand, guiding future company investments while clearly communicating strategies and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.

 

This is a newly created function within our organization, designed to significantly enhance our competitive position in the market. By fostering a deep understanding of market trends, leveraging data-driven decision making, and applying forward-thinking strategy development, the Product Line Management team will play a pivotal role in driving our future growth. We believe that this team’s ability to anticipate market needs and respond with innovative solutions will be a key factor in positioning ABS as a leader in the industry for years to come.

You Will:
  • Provide a global perspective on driving the highest long-term profit value from our Beef on Beef genetics product catalogue through in-depth industry knowledge, analytical capabilities, and understanding of ABS customers' needs.
  • Work closely with Product Development to ensure clear direction on genetic needs of the commercial business.
  • Engage with commercial leads to ensure product alignment with their market strategies.
  • Provide guidance to demand managers on minimum global pricing and restrictions.
  • Collaborate with commercial and S&OP leaders to maximize allocation profit potential while meeting customer commitments in targeted segments.
  • Develop strategies and implementation plans for ongoing aggressive growth and market penetration of Sexcel (both Female and Male), with a focus on optimal product mix and increased operating profit.
  • Work with Beef Genetic Services Data team to ensure availability of robust product validation for terminal products that can be used by commercial teams to aggressively grow volumes and value.
  • Manage individual bull product life cycles in conjunction with Product Development, maximizing value across all customer types and global markets.
  • Ensure ongoing customer and market insights to drive product strategy and tactics with robust knowledge and analysis of market trends and competitors' strategies.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to develop global campaigns to increase market penetration and lead generation to drive expansion of the use of NuEra Genetics.
  • Provide support in key markets with targeted domestic lines (e.g., Nellore in Brazil, Simmental in China).
  • Develop commercial training on Beef-on-Beef product capabilities and selling stories.
Requirements:
  • Excellent English speaking skills required
  • Ability to travel internationally as per the needs of the business (occasional international travel)
  • Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness, Animal Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in product management, preferably within the beef or broader food industry.
  • Proven track record of managing a product line with demonstrated success in product development, marketing, and sales.
  • Knowledge of the beef industry, including market dynamics, customer preferences, and regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and pricing strategies.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and lead teams.
  • Proficiency in product management and CRM software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability inform and influence stakeholders at every level.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
