About the Role: 

 

The Managing Engineer is responsible for management oversight, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of cloud services, on premises database environments, budgeting and planning of IT Operations. This individual will lead technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the technology services organization. This individual ensures that cloud tenants, system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, policies, and procedures.

 

This individual is accountable for the following systems: Azure/365 Tenant Management, Server Environments for On-Premises Hosted Data Centers, Virtualization Systems, Storage systems, Software Development Schematics, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Maintenance and Capital Budget planning and projects as assigned by the Technology Services Director.

 

The Details:  This is a Full-Time role. Remote position but would prefer candidates that are local to either Tacoma, WA or Brentwood, TN. Up to 10% travel requirement.

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

 

Managing Engineer

  • Securing the on-premises, M365 and Azure environments supporting Sound Physicians
  • Engineering of system administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Oversight of servers and hardware configurations, database schematics and database management tools in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Installing and configuring systems that support infrastructure applications
  • Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures
  • Contributing to and maintaining system standards and documentation
  • Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks
  • Identifying approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale

 

 

Operations and Support

  • Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
  • Performing regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Investigating and troubleshooting issues
  • Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures
  • Coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies


Maintenance

  • Applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrading administrative tools and utilities
  • Configuring / adding new services as necessary
  • Maintaining operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintaining data center environmental and monitoring equipment

  • People Management experience with teams up to 15 people
  • Looking for individuals with SME experience with at least 2 or more technologies listed below
  • Experience managing colleagues and providing coaching and counseling on a technical basis
  • Azure including Azure SQL Platform as a Service, Azure Virtual Networking, Identity and Access Management, API, containerization and web application services
  • Database management experience including Microsoft SQL Server and its related support and monitoring tools
  • Functional knowledge of DNS and Networking
  • Functional knowledge of on-premises hosting of three tier architecture and virtualization
  • Experience supporting a 1000+ user environment across multiple locations

  • Starting pay between $140,000 - $160,000 annually, plus a bonus opportunity. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience, and geographical location.
