Job Title: Sr. Consultant - Project Manager - Innovative Financial Products 

 

About the Role: 

Nationwide is embarking on an exciting journey to create a new business focused on developing innovative financial products. These products will be distinct from traditional property and casualty or life insurance offerings, positioning us at the forefront of the financial services industry. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Project Manager to lead this initiative.

  • Strategic Leadership: Help to drive the development and implementation of new financial products, bringing together and leveraging Nationwide’s and Nationwide partner’s investment, risk, accounting, legal and actuarial expertise . 

  • Process Creation and Standardization: Establish and refine processes to ensure efficiency and consistency across the new business, across Nationwide, and across our external partner. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior internal and external leaders and cross-functional teams to shape the future of Nationwide’s product offerings.

This position can be staffed remote, although there is a preference for the individual to work from the Columbus, OH office.  This role will be staffed at the internal H2 pay band.

As a Senior Consultant, you'll serve as the top consulting professional. You will manage sophisticated projects to drive business objectives. You’ll identify and develop business process mapping and recommend and implement policies and procedures for new and existing business processes. You'll lead the business administration functions that support your business area.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates and prioritizes all aspects of projects, including planning, communication, execution and completion.

  • Leads large and complex internal projects and/or provides multi-disciplinary consulting services to business groups.

  • Develops and controls timelines, including regularly re-assessing risks, throughout project life. Revises project plans on an ongoing basis to maintain alignment with other projects and the business strategy.

  • Synchronizes business/systems unit resources to log issues, designs processes and implements solutions. Maintains awareness of customer and systems requirements and conforms to those requirements.

  • Ensures internal and external resource management, budgeting and cost containment.

  • Develops, manages and implements strategic business processes that support business requirements.

  • Recommends and implements policies and procedures for new business processes and manages these processes upon completion of the project. Communicates process changes to impacted business units.

  • Manages associates, including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions (if applicable). 

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Associate Vice President. May lead small team up to 3 professionals. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree required with studies in business, mathematics or related field preferred. Graduate degree also strongly preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Project Management Certification is strongly preferred.

Experience: Ten or more years of work experience in project management. Business process mapping experience preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Exceptional knowledge of project management concepts and techniques. Solid understanding of business terminology, systems and data processing policies, practices and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of business-related systems concepts and requirements preferred. Excellent relationship building skills. Outstanding project management skills. Strong negotiation and problem solving skills. Proven decision making skills for problem identification and selection of alternatives. Effective interpersonal skills. Strong ability to prepare technical reports and formal presentations. 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the business unit Officer and Human Resources Officer.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment; may be required to travel and work flexible hours.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

The national salary range for Sr Consultant, Business Project Management : $95,000.00-$182,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Sr Consultant, Business Project Management : $103,000.00 - $155,000.00
