Job description

Job Title: Remote Senior Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in accounting practices. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of accounting experience and be proficient in month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. Must have experience with Sage. This position is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible to deploy accounting software, set up chart of accounts and financial statement reporting
  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows and Equity Statement, for multiple interrelated entities
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors and advisors such as tax advisors
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable
  • Coordinating with outsourced Payroll and Project Accounting

Skills & Requirements

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of seven years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Public accounting experience is preferred

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Extensive Excel skills
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is a benefit, experience with other corporate accounting systems
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
