Position Summary: Payroll Team Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our team in the role of Payroll Team Manager. As this position will have responsibility to supervise 5-8 direct reports (consultants), you will be required to coach, lead, and foster a positive environment to ensure the success of your team and, as a result, create an exceptional experience for our clients.
You will work in a collaborative partnership with three (3) existing Payroll Managers/Directors on a daily basis to assist with staffing planning for new clients, backup coverage, and assisting the Sales team in their engagements with potential new clients.
We’re looking for candidates with extensive experience in one or more of the following systems: Paylocity, Paycor, UKG Pro, UKG Ready, Dayforce, ADP WFN, Paycom and Paychex
This role will oversee clients and consultants based in the WEST COAST region and candidates MUST be living in the PST and MST time zones.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Thorough inspection of each direct reports’ payrolls to ensure accurate and timely client payroll execution. Your consultants will be responsible for executing payroll for multiple clients weekly.
- The ability to analyze situations, think critically, and provide creative recommendations is essential. Both you and your consultants will encounter complex problems that require innovative solutions.
- Approach challenges with a positive mindset, proactively seek solutions, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
- Excellent communication skills are vital for this role. You should be able to articulate your ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- The consulting landscape is dynamic and ever-evolving. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, flexible, and open to learning new skills and methodologies.
- When assessing new or existing client engagements, you will be required to allocate resources and individuals in accordance with skills and schedules to meet client needs.
- Although your team will own the day-to-day relationships with their clients, you are ultimately responsible for all client relationships within your team. You should be able to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds, empathize with your clients' challenges, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to establish trust and rapport.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
- Experience managing employees and at least 5 years’ experience processing end-to-end payroll, preferably in a medium to large organization
- Prior experience working in a multi-client environment is strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of Paylocity, Paycor, UKG Pro, UKG Ready, Dayforce, ADP WFN, Paycom and/or Paychex
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and best practices
- Complex analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Self-starter who is willing to take initiative with little direction or guidance
- Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Educated on compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and requirements
- Excellent math and numerical skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft suite of products – specifically Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP), SharePoint and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Asana, Everhour, Power BI and other tools is beneficial.
- Certified Payroll Professional certification a plus
