UNICEF Australia is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Young Ambassador program!

We are seeking passionate and motivated individuals aged 15-24 who are eager to make a difference in the world. As a Young Ambassador, you will have the unique opportunity to advocate for children's rights and voice concerns on issues that matter to Australia's youth on a global stage.

This 18-month volunteer role offers extensive training in leadership, advocacy, media, and communications, empowering you to engage effectively with leaders and decision makers.

What do the Ambassadors do?

• Each year, Young Ambassadors hear from children and young people in their communities and then raise issues with our nation’s key decision-makers. They also support other broad areas of UNICEF work as spokespeople at conferences, events and in media.

• The time commitment is 3-5 hours per month, with the potential for increased involvement during key campaign periods, and availability to attend an in-person Induction Week with UNICEF in Sydney, 28 January 2024 - 2 February 2025.

• UNICEF Australia's Young Ambassadors have made great contributions to children's rights and advocacy. Their active participation in decision-making and advocacy has not only amplified the voices of children and young people but also influenced actions and policies for their betterment.

• The program continues to empower young leaders to make a tangible impact on society, ensuring that the rights and needs of children are at the forefront of national discourse.

Examples include: The 2022 YA cohort launched the "Designing the Future" report at Parliament House in Canberra, which was the result of a year's policy design work incorporating the input of 2000 young Australians. In 2021, the YA’s released 'Children’s Voices in a Changing World', a comprehensive report during the coronavirus pandemic, presenting findings from surveys of over 4,000 young people to national leaders. These ambassadors have also represented youth voices at major events, such as the ICC T20 World Cup, and engaged in conversations with influential figures, including award-winning UK musician Arlo Parks.
