Job Title: Product Design Intern

Work Term: Winter 2025*

Duration: 4 months (January 2025 – April 2025)

Location: Virtual

  • Full time availability of 37.5 – 40 hours weekly required to be eligible for this opportunity.

Summary Of Opportunity

We are looking for a self-starting, passionate individual to be the Accessibility and Inclusive Design team's first intern. Digital accessibility is a journey, and it is essential to bring a collective voice as we shape a digitally accessible workforce. HR and workforce management tools should demonstrate the same care and craft as consumer software, designed with contemporary user- and human-centered practices. We are looking for individuals with knowledge of assistive technologies to collaborate with us in reaching this goal. Together, we can make a difference.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work directly with our Product and Technology Platform Accessibility Team to explore different solutions for improving the platform’s accessible user experience.
  • Participate in prototype reviews to practice giving and receiving feedback in a supportive environment.
  • Support the creation of workshops and presentations that are accessible for users using assistive technologies.
  • Practice skills to understand compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Advocate and improve digital accessibility experiences across our digital platforms.
  • Be part of a fast-growing, fun Design Team!

Qualifications

  • Embrace ambiguity and aren’t afraid to ask tough questions with a growth mindset.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, adaptive strategies, and how they improve access.
  • A passion for user-centered design and the ability to work through user flows with senior designers and identify gaps.
  • Working knowledge of remote communication tools (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Office suites).
  • Familiarity with describing and documenting web and native mobile user experiences and presenting to the team (Microsoft Office, Confluence, or video recording).
  • Comfortable with a remote work environment.

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with Figma as a design tool.
  • Familiarity with WCAG guidelines and theoretical models of disabilities.
  • Personal experience as a native user of a screen reader or other assistive technologies.
  • Awareness of how language choice can reflect respect and empowerment within the disability community.
