The candidate will be proficient in structural buildings, component analysis, guiding drafters’ efforts though markup direction, and ensuring quality control. In this role you will play a crucial part in ensuring the successful execution of our residential and structural consulting projects.  

 

Job Summary: The Residential Engineering Manager at an Architecture & Engineering firm is responsible for leading and managing the engineering aspects of residential projects. This role requires overseeing the design, analysis, and execution of engineering plans, ensuring project completion within budget and on schedule, while maintaining high-quality standards and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage residential engineering projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and codes.
  • Coordinate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate engineering solutions into overall project plans.

Design and Analysis:

  • Oversee the design of structural systems for residential buildings, including single-family homes, multi-family residences, and residential complexes.
  • Conduct and review engineering analyses and calculations to ensure structural integrity and safety.
  • Approve engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and monitor their progress.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

Client Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding engineering matters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Present engineering concepts and project updates to clients, addressing their questions and concerns.

Quality Control:

  • Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Review and approve final engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify construction conforms to engineering designs.

Business Development:

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids for new projects.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the residential sector.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and business development teams to promote the firm's engineering services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in residential structural engineering, with at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS).
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations related to residential construction.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCEES Registration.
  • Experience with sustainable and green building practices.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Deltek Vision, MS Project).

Position Type:

  • Full-Time/Regular.

 Working Conditions:

  • Primarily remote-based with occasional site visits.
  • Some travel may be required to meet with clients or attend industry events.
