Job Description

Aqovia is looking for a talented QA Data Quality Engineer to join our agile software development team. The Data Quality Engineer will provide continuous automated and manual testing of data sets during ETL activities for clients and internal projects. The Data Quality Engineer works in the data technology team with the Senior Data Engineer.

You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality of our clients’ data. Working closely with our DataOps team members, Data Owners, and Data Stewards, you will develop, implement, and maintain data quality standards and processes. Additionally, you will identify and resolve data quality issues, ensuring that our client’s data is accurate, complete, and reliable, as well as meeting all compliance and data privacy obligations.

You will write testing plans and routines, manage continuous integration and regression testing processes, and be the point person for assuring all aspects of data quality.

A self-starter, you will be able to provide direction and supply initiative within this important area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain test cases, test data and other test assets.
  • Collaborate with users, and other team members to ensure data needs are met.
  • Advise on tool selection, tool management and test approache
  • Analyze and decompose complex software systems, from a data point of view, and collaborate with and influence others to improve the overall design and approach.

The Ideal Candidate will have

  • Experience of data testing on ETL projects involving complex transformations on large data sets (1M+ records) from multiple sources.
  • Experience in one or more of the data testing tools (e.g. QuerySurge, TOSCA DI, DataGaps ETL Validator)
  • Good SQL query skills
  • Good database skills
  • Good scripting skills in a relevant language, e.g. Python
  • Experience of working in a professional and agile software development
  • environment.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent higher professional qualification.
  • Attention to detail
  • A flair for diagnosing complex data-related and other problems.
  • The following would be an advantage
  • Experience of API testing tools such as Postman and SOAP UI would be an advantage
  • Understanding of RESTful HTTP services, including API description languages such as OpenAPI (Swagger).
  • Understanding of Cloud application development, especially Microsoft Azure
