Sentara Health is seeking to hire a Revenue Cycle Education Specialist

Status: Full-time, Day Shift

Position Location: This position is remote for residents of VA/No Eastern NC (traveling flexibility is required).

Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET).

Position Summary: The Revenue Cycle Education Specialist is critical for optimizing and supporting revenue integrity, particularly in the realms of claim edit coding education, charge reconciliation, and support for hospital, ambulatory, and other operations teams. This role is essential because it bridges the gap between complex coding systems and practical application, ensuring that all claim edits are accurately processed and reconciled. The specialist helps operations teams understand and implement charge reconciliation processes and practices effectively, which minimize errors and enhance compliance by providing targeted education and ongoing support. Resulting in improved revenue results, streamlined the revenue cycle, reduced claim denials, and maximized revenue capture. The specialist's expertise also aids in the adaptation to evolving regulations and coding practices, ensuring that the organization remains up-to-date and resilient in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Performs a variety of education project development and mentoring tasks to meet the needs of the Revenue Cycle at each facility.
  • Responsible for developing relationships with the leaders of the functional areas tasked with supporting and enhancing the education program by providing feedback to Revenue Cycle Leadership, and teaching, coaching, and mentoring of team members, based off direct observations from supported areas.
  • Required to support multiple functional areas and travel between facilities, based on the needs of the departments they are tasked with supporting.
  • 3 years Registration, Billing or Collections experience required. For CRC team, 3 years chart completion, chart correction, release of information coding or auditing experience required. 

  • Word Processing, Spreadsheet & Presentation Software experience required. 
  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle software systems required (Workday/ EPIC PRELUDE/RESOLUTE).
