POSITION - MECHANICAL ESTIMATOR - CONSTRUCTION

LOCATION - REMOTE ROLE

Arcadis is seeking a Mechanical Construction Estimator responsible for providing cost estimates for a variety of construction projects in North America. This position will support our Cost Management business line.

Role description:

As part of our Cost Management team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of construction projects from global, high-profile clients to smaller projects, ensuring they’re delivered on time and to budget. Your expertise in planning, estimating, budgeting and managing costs will drive growth and smarter working. You will help manage the delivery of cost management in the construction sector of small/medium/large projects, ensuring standards of delivery meet defined objectives. Is this you?

Role accountabilities:

  • Manage the development of cost estimates for projects from concept through execution based on accurate quantity take-offs and deep knowledge of material/labour and equipment costs
  • Respond to, solves and makes decisions on business requests that have broader department impact and/or moderate risk. Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the broader organization.
  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications
  • Assist the project management staff with the management of project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Assist with analysis, and report on the project key performance metrics. Engage in value engineering discussions to identify the best solution available for the client
  • Be a true professional who collaborates and develops partnerships with external and internal Teams

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of estimates and reports as requested by the Project Manager and/or client; includes the collection of necessary cost data for conceptual and/or take-off estimating
  • Provide advice to colleagues on risk management, compliance, and associated behaviours to ensure adherence to Arcadis’ risk and compliance processes
  • Present any project risks or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted
  • Use own knowledge and experience, combined with research of industry best practices, to analyze existing processes and policies
  • Interact effectively and proactively across the organization, seeking to develop ways to support collaboration with the cost management function and applying technical knowledge to ensure projects/programs can be delivered to meet cost expectations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent construction project experience
  • 8+ years relevant mechanical estimating experience in a similar working environment, including delivery small/medium/large projects across the entire project life cycle
  • Experience working closely with external stakeholders to build positive client relationships as well as strong relationships with internal teams
  • Strong software skills with but not limited to: Revit, Bluebeam, Excel, MS Office, etc.
  • Comfortable working in a project deadline driven environment with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
  • Commitment to Health and Safety
