Koniag Data Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Communication Specialist to support KDS and our government customer. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.This is a Remote opportunity.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Content Development & Messaging:

  • Distill complex programmatic, technical, and policy concepts into language tailored to the target audience, including non-technical stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread a wide range of documents including reports, executive summaries, fact sheets, and talking points for leadership.
  • Create and manage high-quality white papers and briefing materials on key program initiatives for internal and external distribution
  • Ensure that all communications adhere to the JPEO A&A’s messaging, tone, and branding guidelines.

Strategic Communications Support:

  • Prepare responses to congressional requests for information and other data calls.
  • Collaborate with program managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and leadership to gather, organize, and present data in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Support the development of strategic communication plans to promote key programs and initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with leadership to refine messaging and align communications with JPEO A&A's strategic objectives.
  • Monitor emerging trends and potential issues that may impact the organization’s communication strategy and provide recommendations for proactive messaging.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop strategic messaging for key initiatives, ensuring the message is aligned with broader organizational goals
  • Draft and produce white papers and briefing materials on emerging topics related to JPEO A&A’s mission and objectives.

Editing & Quality Control:

  • Provide editorial support for speeches, articles, presentations, and other executive communications.
  • Serve as a gatekeeper for documents and reports, ensuring that all outgoing communications meet organizational quality and accuracy standards.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of written content to ensure grammatical accuracy, consistency, and compliance with JPEO A&A’s style guide.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in English or similar field, advanced degree preferred
  • Proven experience in communications, preferably in a government or defense environment.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise language.
  • Experience in responding to congressional requests or data calls is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other document management tools.
  • Familiarity with JPEO A&A operations and/or Army correspondence is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
