Key responsibilities

To achieve this, we are looking for a talented business development manager to represent Electrochaea in Québec and within Canada. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the commercialization of our technology. You will work together with an international and diverse team of business developers, engineers, scientists, and project managers, including our North American team in Canada and the US, and report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.

  • Lead the planning and execution of Electrochaea’s campaign to deliver a portfolio of methanation plants in Quebec and with potential for expansion elsewhere in North America
  • Work with Electrochaea’s Québecois business developer (located in Germany) and engineering team to identify and build partnerships, e.g. with existing clients, EPC companies, engineering firms, and service providers to deliver our standardized methanation product for rapid entry into the Québec market 
  • Participate in developing a market strategy for Quebec and other Provinces with Electrochaea’s commercial team. Create partnerships and channels to market for broad delivery of Electrochaea’s methanation technology in Canada 
  • Identify and engage developers, participants in the hydrogen industry, and suppliers to accelerate market penetration of our standardized methanation solution
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the product (e.g., technical issues, permitting issues, regulatory concerns, customer needs, commercial analysis)
  • Engage regularly with decision-makers across all sectors relevant to our technology (e.g., electricity, natural gas, biogas, landfill, wastewater, pulp and paper, industrial polluters etc.)
  • Represent Electrochaea at key industry events, conferences and expand and maintain a network of local contacts building on our strong existing position
  • Drive all aspects of product definition including business case analysis, feasibility studies, sourcing of local engineering partners, permitting aspects, etc.
Your qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in business development or product management, preferably in a technical field
  • Master's degree in business, engineering, or related field 
  • Strong project management and commercial understanding 
  • Experience in the energy or gas sector is a plus 
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal English and French skills
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel within the Québec province and the rest of Canada
  • Willing to travel to Germany and the US for team-related activities several times per year
Location: This position is located in Québec. Candidates must be located in Québec province or Canada to be considered.

  • Home office stipend: One-time payment of CDN$4,000 to furnish and otherwise establish your workspace. This one-time payment will be fully taxable and any purchases will be owned by you
  • Employee expenses for telecom, Wifi, and related communications expenses will be reimbursed at a rate of CDN$500/month gross (taxable)
