POSITION - ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR - CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

LOCATION - REMOTE ROLE

Arcadis is seeking an Electrical Construction Estimator responsible for providing cost estimates for a variety of construction projects in North America. This position will join our Cost Management business line.

Role description:

As part of our Cost Management team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of construction projects from global, high profile clients to smaller projects, ensuring they’re delivered on time and to budget. Your expertise in planning, estimating, budgeting and managing costs will drive growth and smarter working.

Role accountabilities:

  • Communicate with client directly regarding their portion of the project
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of their needs to resolve stakeholder issues, provide solutions and contribute to ongoing client satisfaction"
  • Work independently within established financial systems to monitor and review project costs and variances on small commercial/regeneration/residential projects to control cost variables
  • Deliver/assist in managing small- to medium-scale cost projects or significant components of cost management assignments, ensuring the delivery of the required scope of work within set deadlines
  • Understand and comply with business risk and present any project concerns or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted
  • Provide advice to colleagues on principles of risk management to ensure adherence to the organization's risk and compliance processes
  • Analyze and review a range of data to collate trends and prepare documentation such as delivery plans, providing advice and making recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision making
  • Use own knowledge and experience to review and analyze existing cost and commercial management processes and policies, sharing knowledge and taking an active involvement in service improvement and innovation
  • Interact with internal and external customers, applying technical knowledge to complete complex, professional-level tasks to ensure projects/programs can be delivered to meet customer expectations
  • Provide specialist technical advice and guidance within area, supporting others with cost management queries and actively sharing knowledge to inform colleagues and provide a high level of service to clients

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • In-depth technical knowledge of Electrical Construction Estimating field, including construction processes and cost and commercial management
  • Demonstration of self-management and prioritization skills, with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties
  • Demonstrated expertise in measurement and pricing
  • Able to understand the overall structure of the estimate
  • Able to focus on an entire project rather than a limited portion
  • May supervise lower levels on pieces of project work, providing mentorship and training
  • May work on two or three projects concurrently
  • Responsible for parts of total estimate for overall project

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying)
  • Attainment of, or near attainment of, relevant professional certification(i.e., Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering [AACE] or similar)
  • 5 or more years’ relevant experience, including experience delivering analysis and insights
