Position Summary
The Development Coordinator / Apprentice is an entry-level position for a student who has graduated from Arizona State University's Lodestar Center / School of Social Work or other equivalent school program and is building a career in nonprofit development/fundraising.
The Development Coordinator/ Apprentice provides account management and customer service to a portfolio of individual, small business, association and in-kind partners , clubs and group to ensure contractual obligations are met by both parties, that communications and information is flowing, and that the spirit of the alliance is being achieved annually for all parties. This position serves as ‘air-traffic-control’ and point person for assigned accounts. Uses fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, marketing and employee engagement knowledge to implement and maximize relationships. Works to nurture relationships and trust that result in the renewal and upsell of these partners’ financial commitments annually.
Principle Accountabilities & Deliverables
- Provides exceptional account management and customer service to a portfolio of assigned donors and partnerships to ensure contractual obligations are met, communications and information is flowing, partners are activating, and that the spirit of the alliance is being achieved by both parties so that the donations are renewed year after year.
- Leverages relationship-building, marketing and fundraising skillset to interact with partner point-persons in a way that builds confidence and trust in the partnership.
- Keeps excellent records in CRM on each partners’ strategic goals, renewal dates, points of contacts, etc. and on each partner liaisons’ individual contact record so that the CRM is kept accurate and history on the partnerships is recorded.
- Works internally with colleagues, including the marketing, school partnership and scholarship teams, to ensure deliverables are met. Manages and tracks contracts, renewal dates, and ensures the CEO’s reviews and approves draft contracts.
- Prepares presentations.
- Works to nurture at least 5 contacts within each assigned partnership and connect those contacts with other TechForce staff and/or board members so that the alliance enjoys numerous champions within the organization and is more insulated from turnover.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, with an emphasis in nonprofit management/social work.
- Desire to build a career in nonprofit fundraising/development or corporate relations required.
Skills
- Excellent account management skills, attention to details and professional follow through required.
- Basic knowledge of fundraising and/or corporate relations lingo, and marketing prowess highly desired.
- Proven ability to build relationships and earn the respect of donors required.
- Engaging, extroverted communication approach and professional style of tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
- Has a desire to build fundraising solicitation skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, cultivate and nurture a variety of relationships.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; recognized as a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills; excellent public speaking skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and CRM database, such as Hubspot or Salesforce.
Abilities
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday.
- Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday.
- Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, and reason for most or all of the workday.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
- Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
Work Environment
- Work is performed indoors from a home-based office.
- Up to 5% travel within the United States may be required.
