Job description

This is a remote position.

Purpose of Role:

The Land Acquisition Manager will play a crucial role in identifying, securing, and qualifying new opportunities for large-scale Solar PV, Wind, Battery Storage, and Hydrogen projects across England and Wales. Reporting directly to the Head of Land, this position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of land acquisition and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Target Area Identification:
    • Collaborate with the Grid team to pinpoint target areas for development.
    • Secure land specifically for grid connection applications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, land agents, and introducers to identify potential land acquisition opportunities.
    • Negotiate option, lease, cable, and access easement agreements to secure land rights.
  • Support for Development:
    • Provide land-related support to the Development team, ensuring smooth project progression.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Regularly report on land acquisition progress to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals.
Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience:
    • At least five years of experience in a land-focused role, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
    • Proven experience in face-to-face lead generation and securing land rights for renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge:
    • A solid understanding of Planning Policy and its impact on potential development opportunities.
    • Familiarity with Distribution and Transmission Networks.
    • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to land acquisition.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Highly self-motivated, capable of working autonomously and meeting individual targets.
    • Organized in time management, record keeping, and task management.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • RICS accreditation is preferable.
    • A robust network of industry contacts.
    • A valid UK driving licence.
