Social Investment Managers and Advisors LLC (SIMA) is a new-generation, fast-growing impact investment manager with a unique business model and a transparent culture. SIMA also provides advisory services to impact investors and companies operating in solar energy, financial inclusion, affordable housing, and education. Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with SIMA’s CEO and Partner on fundraising efforts for a global fund with a potential size of up to USD 400 million, focused on decarbonizing the textile, apparel, and footwear industries, with the majority of exposure in Asia.
- Take primary responsibility for fund deployment and portfolio management.
- Execute the fund’s thesis, investment rationale, and pipeline development for fund deployment.
- Hire, manage, and lead a team of 10-15 individuals working on the fund.
- Develop necessary templates, pitch books, and marketing materials for fundraising and deployment in collaboration with the team.
- Create and maintain a database of investment prospects with the team.
- Build relationships with borrowers and structure deals in line with the fund’s mandate.
- Oversee the team during investment due diligence and fund deployment.
- Supervise the accounting, marketing, and reporting requirements of the fund.
Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in lending to the SME sector at a financial institution, asset manager, alternative lender, etc. Knowledge of managing potentially stressed assets and exposure to the textile and apparel industry is preferred.
- Experience in financing small-scale solar and energy efficiency projects, including exposure to solar leasing, ESCO models, energy savings performance contracting, and solar Distributed Generation Off-balance sheet financing.
- 5-7 years of experience in fund management.
- Multi-country lending experience with a focus on Asia.
- Experience with carbon credits is a plus.
- Proven management abilities with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to work effectively as a team player.
- A strong salesperson with the ability to fundraise is preferred.
- A personable individual with strong ethics and a passion for social impact, sustainability, and transparency.
- An MBA from a leading business school with an engineering background is preferred.
