Your missions

Title: Automotive Technical Writer

Location: Remote

Rate: $55 - $65 per hour


Ardent is looking to add (1099) Automotive Technical Writers to our growing team for short-term contract opportunities. Our ideal candidate will have experience creating technical documents and manuals and adept at explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner. This is a remote/work-from-home opportunity so we will be considering applicants nationally. 

In this role, you will…

  • Create documentation to support large-scale training programs for various automotive clients (technical, sales, and service)

You’ve got what it takes if you have…

  • Experience with application of, and adherence to, client-specific publication style standards (branding, punctuation, special characters, ordering of descriptors in a feature, legal disclaimers)
  • An eye for detail regarding standard and available features by vehicle trim level, as well as identifying inconsistencies in client-provided material
  • Join and lead collaborative design meetings with the client
  • Experience with applying MS Word styles to content/tables per provided standards
  • Familiarity with automotive terminology

With the ability to…

  • Translate client-specific shorthand for new product features, functions and technology into understandable descriptions for client approval, following client-specific standards
  • Interpret client-specific shorthand for existing product features, functions and technology, then recognize and apply the appropriate translated description from client’s style guide or other resource

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, English, Instructional Design, or related field
  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Comfortable working remotely with virtual teams
