In the position of Application Technology Center lead, you will play a central role in the development of technology for coating application. You will be involved in understanding and improvement of current application methods and the development of novel, automated methods that will enable sustainability and performance improvements for customers using Hempel coatings. Here’s some of the other things you can look forward to
In this role you will be able to utilize your practical flair and ability to design, build and prototype mechanical equipment to improve paint application processes and equipment. Moreover, in this role you will be working towards solving the application challenges in the coating industry by understanding future industry/customer needs as well as existing and future application techniques. Hence in this job you will interact with both internal and external stakeholders such as paint formulation scientists, product managers, sales staff, and application equipment manufacturers.
Your tasks will be to:
- Perform required research, experimental, prototyping and testing work in the lab, spray booths and field application sites with existing and new spray equipment
- Communicate new learnings and findings both in verbal and written format
- Follow all guidelines and Group procedures regarding Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensure that high standards of safety and 6S are maintained in Hempel facilities
You will be joining a dedicated team of colleagues in the Technology Centres team, R&D based in Copenhagen and Barcelona.
The successful candidate
As a person, it is important you have a genuine drive to understand working mechanisms of mechanical equipment and a desire to get your hands on to build, fix and improve diverse mechanical systems. You can work effectively both in the organized lab environment and fast-paced industrial field application sites. It is easy for you to produce new ideas and you have an ability to learn quickly. In your approach to work, you are structured and proactive. You value collaboration and this is something that comes easily to you both with colleagues internally as well as with external partners. You come with a positive attitude and genuine care for the people around you without losing the focus on the end goal of our projects.
This position does not require any coatings industry related experience; however, it is expected that you have:
- Engineering education (BSc, MSc or PhD)
- Technical hands-on experience (mechanical equipment, pneumatic systems design, and prototyping, etc.)
- Solid English skills both verbal as well as in written
