Become part of Hempel’s expanding & diverse R&D – Research & Development, Technology Centers team. We are looking Scientist that will utilize polymer chemistry and/or material science background to drive challenging research projects and keep expanding expertise on a regular basis.

You will have the unique opportunity to report directly to our R&D Manager, Technology Centers, be based on our office in Polinyà, Spain and cooperate with other colleagues from all over the world.

What you can look forward to in this Role:

  • Design, plan, execute and report research projects using existing and/or new knowledge, methods and theories to solve problems, and improve or generate new technologies and processes
  • Advance characterization methods to study structure property relationships
  • Develop fundamental understanding of structure property relationships for multicomponent polymeric materials
  • Progress all required research and experimental work in the lab in order to meet the objectives of the projects
  • Apply design of experiments (DOE) principles in the projects, analyse and derive conclusions from experimental data
  • Communicate new learnings and knowledge generated in research projects both in verbal and written format
  • Implement all guidelines and Group procedures regarding Health, Safety and Environment
  • Ensure that high standards of safety and 6S are maintained in Hempel facilities

What does it take to become our new team member?

  • Experience working in a laboratory is essential
  • University degree in technical studies (Chemistry)
  • Technical project management skills and experience working with research and development projects would be an advantage
  • Organic, polymer chemistry or material science background and experience would be a strong advantage
  • Mathematical and statistical background to be able to apply DOE principles would be an advantage
  • Solid English skills both verbal as well as in written
