The Role

SimplePractice is looking for a top-performing business savvy Director of Total Rewards & People Technology to lead our Compensation, Benefits and People Technology teams.  In this role, you will create and activate differentiated reward programs that will power our growth by attracting, motivating and keeping an exceptional and diverse team to propel us as we grow and scale.

As a strategic and transformational Compensation and Total Rewards leader you will apply creativity in developing and evolving a best in class Total Rewards strategy, roadmap and inclusive practices and act as a change agent as our company grows.

The successful candidate will use a proactive and innovative approach to ensure that our rewards are competitive, drive business results, are aligned with our culture, and are valued by our team members. This person must be both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor who is passionate about how compelling compensation, benefits and HR systems impact the employee experience at SimplePractice.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement SimplePractice’s comprehensive 3-year strategy for Total Reward using programs aimed at attracting and retaining top talent in a competitive environment
  • Oversee the strategic direction and execution of all compensation, health and welfare benefit programs, including design, implementation, communication, and administration
  • Lead and develop a high performing and engaged Total Rewards & People Technology team
  • Enable leaders to make great equitable rewards decisions and have productive pay conversations
  • Provide expert counsel and education to HR and Business leadership on compensation issues related to company pay structures, pay change recommendations, new hire offers, and wage and hour regulations
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of our rewards programs to ensure they are aligned with our business and talent strategies and market trends; make recommendations for changes, as appropriate
  • Partner with external compensation resources; oversee all activity related to compensation surveys, market trends and competitive pay positions to ensure SimplePractice’s salary plans remain competitive in the market
  • Routinely assess cost effective, competitive, benefits position relative to the market
  • Create multi-year people technology roadmap, simplify processes and leverage technology to scale through end to end review of HCM, Talent, Compensation and Benefits processes to optimize for efficiency, teammate experience and scale. Elevate our approach to process design and system development with improved project management, change management and design thinking
  • Develop people analytics capability and design an approach to reporting that creates real time insights that are readily accessible and action oriented
  • Serve as an integral member of the People Leadership Team while building and retaining a high performing Total Rewards team
  • Ensure all rewards programs are administered in compliance with regulations nationally, including management of all compliance filings, reports, and audits.  Define and apply strong governance practices to our rewards processes to mitigate the biggest risks and demonstrate compliance
  • Prepare materials for SimplePractice’s executive leadership team and Board of Directors

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • 10+ years of experience in Compensation/Total Rewards with concentration on compensation, leading a team of 5 people
  • Education: BA/BS Degree
  • Prior experience designing compensation & incentive plans and managing executive compensation
  • Ability to develop and adjust the rewards strategy to address movements in the market and business. Inspires imagination by creating a coherent vision out of messy issues 
  • Strategic thinking:  Ability to develop and adjust rewards strategy to address movements in the market and business.  Inspires imagination by creating a coherent vision out of messy issues.  Able to lead with a clear, compelling vision for the Total Rewards team
  • Communication skills: Able to effectively communicate what we are doing and why we are doing it.  Strong executive presence with both the ability and credibility to present ideas and recommendations at all levels within the organization
  • A business partner mindset with strong knowledge of compensation and benefits
  • Process & systems orientation: be able to scale the businesses - deep experience in defining, implementing and driving people processes and related systems to support growth
  • Experience developing and using data and talent analytics to understand trends and establish strategic practices that enhance quality of total rewards, build compelling business cases and drive sound decision-making 
  • Leverages company branding that reflects SimplePractice’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and innovation
  • Strong work ethic with planning and execution skills for a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Workday

Base Compensation Range

$180,000 - $210,000 annually

Base salary is one component of total compensation. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus or commission. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.

The above represents the expected base compensation range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider many factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
