Purpose of the Role
As a part of our growth strategy, we have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager, to join our Melbourne based business. This role reports to the Acquisition Project Director.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hard-working, experienced Senior Project Manager or Defence Fuel Specialist who has delivered projects across a range of sectors and is seeking their next challenge to develop their career in a renowned worldwide business.
The Senior Project Manager, is responsible for the successful co-ordination, oversight and delivery of the agreed Commonwealth project deliverables associated with the ADF Deploybable Bulk Fuel Distribution capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the PM activities and deliverables of the project to Final Acceptance, as well as providing key support in managing and mentoring PM staff
- Establish and maintain the Project Management Plan (PMP) for the lifecycle of project
- Ongoing management of the project cost and schedule, ensuring all necessary project planning activities are captured and identifying and correcting any deviations
- Manage budgeting and cost management including resource planning
- Manage and co-ordinate regular Risk, Issues & Opportunity reviews and manage the risks, issues and opportunity register in accordance with Risk Management processes
- Lead both Customer and governance board reporting as required
- Liaise with and integrate all internal stakeholders including Engineering, Supply Chain/AIC, Finance, Legal, and Commercial to deliver required project outcomes
- Liaise with Customer and external stakeholders to execute project delivery and manage expectations
- Apply a commercially astute and strategic mindset when liaising with Customer and key external stakeholders and to project decision-making and problem solving
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status and financial performance against agreed budgets and forecasts
- Other project management duties as required throughout the life cycle of the project
Key Requirements:
- ≥ 15 years project management planning, delivery, intergration and leadership experience.
- Extensive project management experience leading and managing complex Defence project.
- Delivered systems engineering projects within a Defence environment.
- Experience managing projects to ASDEFCON requirements using a sound knowledge of the fundamentals.
- A track record of consistently completing projects on time and within budget.
- Well-developed understanding of contemporary PM methodologies.
- Leadership capabilities including the proven ability to motivate, influence, develop and mentor others.
