KO Business Solutions is proud to be working with a growing firm specializing in accounting, tax, and consulting services based in Philadelphia and Chicago who is currently seeking a Manager, Accounting Services, to join their Chicago team. Our client provides a variety of accounting, tax, and consulting services to help business owners and nonprofits focus on what they do best: fulfill their missions and lead in the communities they serve. Location: Remote in the Midwestern US


Salary: $115,000-$130,000

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40+ hours a week depending on business need

Description


Our client services small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits across a variety of industries to provide cost-effective and comprehensive accounting and financial reporting services. In this role you will serve a diverse clientele, acting as a strategic problem-solver, and allocating our teams’ resources to manage accounts and identify areas for further support. Some of your key responsibilities will be:

 

  • Act as an advisor for a diverse book of business, identifying areas for support and creating customized solutions to address their accounting needs.  
  • Identify and assess key account concerns. Develop strategy using the team’s collective knowledge and technological resources to address them.
  • Allocate team resources by identifying individual skillsets to appropriately assign work to the team.  
  • Manage a team of Staff Accountants. Supervise the quality of work put forth by direct reports to ensure that it meets company quality standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal and external parties. Act as a main point of contact for any client’s immediate needs.
  • Complete financial reporting and month-end closing procedures for a diverse group of clients. Support day-to-day accounting tasks as needed.
  • Lead by example to provide expert-level service to clients, including but not limited to bookkeeping, preparation of adjusting journal entries, preparation of financial statements, cash-flow forecasting, AP/AR services, etc.
  • Take part in company strategic planning meetings to ensure operational excellence and align on approach to market.
  • Develop and improve financial reporting practices to be utilized both internally and externally.  
  • Work with company leadership to ensure process efficiencies, as well as drive improvement and create operational consistency.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as needed, including operational analyses and audits, as well as any other client-related projects based on the bandwidth of the team.


Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel
  • Experience using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are required; any other accounting systems are a plus.
  • Proven leadership skills and an aptitude for training and development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to think creatively about complex accounting issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and very detail-oriented
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA certification required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting with some leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience working with an outsourcing firm or with external clients required.
