Controller

This is a remote position.

• Manage a team of bookkeepers across multiple business entities.
  
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all operations.
  
• Oversee accounts receivable and collections processes.
  
• Establish and maintain favorable vendor terms and relationships.
  
• Manage cash flow and debt/credit card payments.
  
• Identify and resolve complex financial issues.
  
• Assign tasks and monitor work of bookkeeping staff.
  
• Implement financial controls and process improvements.
  
• Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
  
• Establish (in coordination with Administrative Director and CEO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, closing the books, and reporting standards on a routine basis.
  
• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
  
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  
• Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
  
• Communications Management - Maintains inbox zero and assigns messages.
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  
• 5+ years of experience in accounting/controller roles.
  
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  
• Experience managing accounting teams.
  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Proficiency with accounting software like QuickBooks.
  

• Oversee financial operations for manufacturing, distribution, and retail divisions.
  
• Manage team of bookkeepers supporting each business unit.
  
• Implement financial controls and reporting across all entities.
  

• Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points - Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Cash Flow.
  
• Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape [Determining A/R payment plans, collections, A/P accrual of debt and payment scheduling].
  
• Implement and maintain financial controls and guidelines [Credit Card issuing & usage].
  
• Help maintain and support short- and long-term operational strategies.
