Your missions

Overview

At Esri, we make the world's most powerful software that accelerates decision-making by unlocking the crucial context of location. ArcGIS Hub is an engagement platform that organizes people around events, projects, idea boards, and initiatives using data-driven collaboration tools.

Our customers are solving some of the world's most complex problems such as climate change, supply chain resilience, public health, and social equity. We build technology to support their work and help define our collective future. Our customers are the inspiration for everything we do. **

About The Role**

Interested in working on a product with scale that enables thousands of customers to create change in their community?

ArcGIS Hub is a web platform that empowers customers to connect with their communities, share data, and collaborate using location-based tools. With over a hundred million impressions last year alone, it is fast becoming the de facto product of choice for organizations to collaborate on and showcase their work.

While we are a highly collaborative team, feature development for ArcGIS Hub is segmented into the following product areas:

  • Collaboration establishes the framework for how people organize around their near-term and aspirational goals
  • Discovery breaks down barriers by bringing people and content together through search, suggestions, and high-quality information
  • Engagement delivers action and insights through discussions, events, maps, and other forms of visualizations
  • Sites enable customers to establish the digital playground for all of this to occur, including the ability to brand and share

We are seeking a Product Owner who is able to break down complex problems into clear actions to drive product development. You will work cross-functionally to guide feature development from conception to launch by connecting the technical, user experience, and business worlds.

_This role is open to remote opportunities, or someone interested in working out of our office overlooking Washington, DC.

_ Responsibilities

  • As the Product Owner for one of the ArcGIS Hub scrum teams, your entrepreneurial spirit will help us push the boundaries of our industry-leading technology
  • Define and drive your product area's vision and strategy to promote user growth, retention, and collaboration
  • Identify product area performance metrics and establish clear definitions of success that both empower your team and build conviction in your roadmap
  • Work closely with your cross-functional team of engineers and designers to rapidly iterate on building and shipping innovative user experiences
  • Ensure your team is focusing on the right things, balancing short- versus long-term needs, and confidently navigating trade-offs
  • Clearly communicate product area plans, context, and results to your team and the broader organization
  • Develop and maintain test strategies, plans, and procedures alongside operations colleagues to ensure quality experiences are delivered consistently
  • Engage with Esri Support Services to evaluate, triage, and resolve ideas and issues submitted by our customers
  • Support user education efforts through blog posts, conference presentations, and engaging with our user community
  • This role will report to the Product Engineering Lead on the ArcGIS Hub team

Requirements

  • 5+ years working in an agile environment as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst for a software product
  • Experience in web development life cycle (SDLC), including the ability to balance iterative delivery of new features with overall product area system health
  • Proficient in critically evaluating unfamiliar problems, modularizing functional requirements, and concisely communicating expectations
  • Excellent project management skills with an ability to coordinate, structure, and analyze multiple product capabilities across release windows
  • Strong communicator and storyteller, able to convey complex concepts and ideas in various formats depending on context and audience
  • Intermediate understanding of web development fundamentals such as HTML/CSS, components, APIs, and UI/UX design
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, GIS, or related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner or robust knowledge of Scrum practices
  • Familiarity with GIS technology, particularly the ArcGIS platform
