Job description

About Stellic

Stellic is on a mission to empower students to get the most value out of their college journey and prepare them for success in their careers. Many believe that degree progression is straightforward, but for most students, it’s a meandering and arduous process. As a result, graduation rates suffer - with less than 44% of students graduating within 6 years. Our degree progression platform finally solves one of the biggest pain points for college students and advisors: helping students plan their degrees, choose courses, and manage their academic journey.

About the Role

As Stellic’s technical writer, you’ll create educational content for customers and internal teams, to support implementing and using Stellic products. This position participates primarily in communication that affects the customer lifecycle post-sale.

This role combines technical communication and training video creation skills with project management, empathy, and storytelling. The Technical Writer will be a member of cross-functional teams that include subject matter experts from all corners of the company. You’ll be tasked with turning lessons learned from their customer interactions and field experiences into meaningful content for our customers.

We’re looking for a technical writer that can thrive in our fast-paced startup world, and who has the experience to help Stellic scale our documentation. In this role, you’ll:

  • Assess the training and documentation needs of our customers and internal teams for new and existing features.
  • Develop written and video content through collaboration with Product, Engineering, and customer-facing teams, including integration materials used during implementation.
  • Work in partnership with other departments to improve our customer help center and our internal product knowledge base.
  • Support product adoption and customer education, with a goal of deflecting customer questions with docs and training.
  • Assist in writing product updates and release notes to make sure our customers stay updated on the latest features and releases.
  • Assess gaps in existing documentation and develop a strategy for updating and refining it.

You'd be a great fit for this role if you have the following skills and experiences:

  • 3 years of relevant experience as a SaaS software technical writer or content manager, including producing written and video content.
  • Superior writing skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to empathize with our partners to make them successful using our product.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly and then design and develop clear training materials on them.
  • Motivated self-starter, capable of taking initiative, with exceptional teamwork skills, who is comfortable defining new documentation processes.
  • Experience with Intercom and Notion.
  • Experience using AI or other automation tools to assist in docs and training.
  • Experience designing instruction for in-person delivery of training.

Why Join?

  • Be part of the customer-centric team that's addressing the core issues in higher ed via an expandable platform — one that’s overwhelmingly loved by students and valued by administrators
  • The opportunity to join at the ground level of a promising platform and be part of a team critically responsible for its growth
  • Work and learn from some of the most prominent thought leaders in higher ed and SaaS sales
  • Generous stock options in a Series A stage startup
  • Flexible, outcome-based culture
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401K and commuter benefits
  • Annual international retreats in some of the most beautiful cities & towns

Salary: $100,000 -$140,000 base salary, plus equity

Some of the Things We've Heard:

  • Student: "Having an interface that allows you to look at everything reaffirms the idea that all the work you’re putting in day-to-day, it is getting you somewhere. It is not all for naught."
  • Advisor: "Just had the most AMAZING advising session...a student was changing majors and they built a new plan to show her parents within minutes. She was beaming (and so was I!)...this is incredible to use."
  • Administrator: "Stellic has caused us to be more inspired about the work that we do. Having a platform that is agile, responsive, flexible and shows potential for moving forward - and a collaborative team approach - has been remarkable."
