VarSome Clinical is a variant calling, annotation and interpretation platform for NGS data, for whole genomes, exomes, and gene panels.

VarSome is created by Saphetor, a Switzerland-based precision medicine company with offices in Lausanne, Boston, and Athens, using bioinformatics to apply human genome data to improve health and lives worldwide. 

Saphetor is pioneering the use of big-data sequencing technology, such as exome and whole-genome sequencing, for clinical practice. We are involved in both clinical research and diagnostics, providing our clients with quality analysis and interpretation of next-generation DNA sequencing data. What will you learn with us?

You will gain an insider perspective on a current data-processing pipeline for next-generation sequencing in medical diagnostics, from data-types used by different sequencing technologies, to cutting-edge tools used for their analysis.  Understand challenges in building versatile and flexible data-flows, and tools available for their construction (Prefect).

What are the basics?

• You have a passion for Bioinformatics and a curious mindset with learning agility and a desire for development
• You are a Senior Student or Recent Graduate with successful studies in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science or a related field
• You possess some knowledge/experience gained by your studies and/or your personal tech projects in one or more of the following technologies:
  
          - working in Linux environment
          - scripting: Python/perl/bash
          - some basic understanding of relational databases and MySQL
          - some basic understanding of version control systems (i.e. git)
  
  

• You have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken  
• As a person, you are a fast learner and quick to grasp new concepts and software products. Your communication skills characterise you, and you are eager to work in a Global team!
