Internal Audit Manager
About the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking an Internal Audit Manager. The internal audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to help the Howden Group and its entities accomplish its strategic objectives by bringing a detailed, focused approach to evaluate and improve the efficiency of risk management, control, and governance processes. Internal Audit reports functionally to the Howden Group Audit Committee and administratively to the Group CRO.
The goal of our function is not to find fault, but to help management and the businesses succeed in delivering their objectives successfully. We accomplish this by utilizing our diverse range of skillsets to challenge the status quo and bring insight and value alongside our core assurance work.
Essential Functions:
Assist with the delivery of a range of diverse internal audits from within the Group Audit plan, primarily across the Americas region (underwriting, broking, and reinsurance).
Assess business processes and risks and evaluating internal controls to provide an independent appraisal of the control environment.
Propose recommendations to improve processes and controls, and contribution towards greater business efficiency and operations.
Ability to document audit planning, fieldwork and reporting in a clear and concise manner, which would enable readers to understand the audit approach and rationale for risk ratings.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with key partners within the business, including senior management.
Contribute to the continual improvement of the Internal Audit function through innovation and efficiency, including challenging current methods.
Travel throughout the American region, potentially to any of the businesses and offices within USA and LATAM. Travel to other Howden / DUAL locations may be required if business needs arise (UK / Bermuda / EU). As a guide only, we would estimate 30% travel.
Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance is strongly preferred
At least 4 years of Internal Audit experience, including understanding of technical auditing concepts/ internal control systems.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Professional qualification within either finance/business or insurance industry viewed favorably.
Insurance / Reinsurance industry experience, including US regulatory requirements would be preferable.
Experience in presenting and communicating information in a logical, professional, and objective manner, and handling discussions to successfully build consensus and drive forward-looking actions.
Strong communication skills (written & verbal). Relevant foreign language proficiency viewed favorably (particularly Spanish).
Strong organizational skills with excellent time management.
Ability to demonstrate credibility and generate rapport in dealings with stakeholders.
Strong level of business understanding and the ability to empathize with auditees and identify pragmatic solutions which address identified risks; strong negotiating and influencing skills.
Proficient in Microsoft applications, especially Excel; experience in data analytics viewed favorably.
Highly motivated and proactive self-starter; co-operative and encouraging teammate.
