Development Team

The Development team is responsible for the entire delivery process from the early site identification, through to the physical data centers from shovel ready state through commissioning, working with Sales and Operations.   Construction implements and executes upon the work product developed by the Development & Engineering (D&E) team.  The team also manages Vantage’s build partners to success through technical feedback and review, and actively participating in review of schedule and budget.  Many times, a role like this at other companies is purely oversight.  One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our management teams are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process.  When compared to external resources, our internal team can ensure the key stakeholders are engaged in the decision-making process to align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals.  This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results. 

Position Description

Vantage is looking for ambitious, detail-oriented, hands-on Senior Planning Manager to manage planners / schedulers in EMEA, who support our portfolio of projects during the early stages of Project concept through to Construction.  Starting with evaluating test fit projects, onboarding the project scheduler, setting tools, reports and expectations.  Ensuring strategic program review, health checks and reporting is undertaken and managing the resource.  Ensuring thorough project review and evaluation of tenders from the General Contractor selection process & procurement through Commissioning to project close out. You will join the Development team and provide professional scheduling capabilities, using your experience and VDC’s procedures to create, critically assess and report on project schedules to undertake peer reviews. You will be expected to guide and support the planner and team's decision making, ensure schedule best practice and VDC planning processes are followed.  This position can be remote with frequent travel up to 40% to London and EMEA areas as required. 

Essential Job Functions/Duties

• Supporting the development of planning resource, and working closely with the New Site Development teams to build reliable schedules for new projects
• Benchmarking (both internal and external) data for portfolio use
• Alongside the Planning Director, contribute to the development of policies and procedures for scheduling
• Support teams in assessing General Contractor (GC) schedule capability and competency in advance of signing contracts 
• Support the onboarding of GCs to ensure understanding of and compliance with the Vantage Data Centre (VDC) Contractor schedule specification  
• Responsible for the planners delivery of project schedule health checks and general schedule quality assurance against GC developed schedules and working with technical disciplines to ensure schedule is representative of the works being delivered on site. 
• Monitor schedule changes and identify potential risk of delays 
• Manage the planner in maintaining project schedules in the P6 Database 
• Ensure the Primavera database is updated in a timely manner to support portfolio reporting
• Consolidate data and build up schedule benchmarking competence 
• Validate planners work and arrange, as well as undertake peer reviews

• Create, review, and analyse critical path schedules independently, in an efficient and comprehensive manner
• Develop comprehensive plans that communicate the programs, projects, and strategic goals
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project’s goals (verbal, written, graphically)
• Monitor schedule performance data, develop complex data analysis, and issue schedule reports required by management and project procedures
• Host and train teams on collaborative planning.
• Ensure project teams adhere to customer scheduling specifications and requirements throughout the project life cycle to ensure timely delivery upon requests
• Work with vertical peers focusing on continuous improvement to our business processes
• Support the project teams in risk analysis including performance of QSRA as required.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of planning experience using Primavera P6. 
• Understand the Critical Path Method of scheduling theoretically and as it applies to projects
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts/general conditions) at all levels of design
• Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a requirement 
• Expert knowledge and extensive experience using Microsoft Office software tools, such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word
• Expected travel is approx. 40%, but may grow and evolve over time
• Data Centre experience is preferred, but not required
• English language mandatory, second language preferred in German or Italian
