Do you ever wonder what happens inside the cloud?

DigitalOcean (NYSE: DOCN) simplifies cloud computing so builders can spend more time creating software that changes the world. With our mission-critical infrastructure and fully managed offerings, DigitalOcean enables startups and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to rapidly deploy and scale modern applications. As a remote-first organization, our employees, like our customers, are based around the world.

The Opportunity:

DigitalOcean offers a  highly competitive Total Rewards plan, which attracts best-in-class talent. Our Total Rewards team oversees compensation strategy and implementation, including cash, equity, perks, and benefits for all employees around the world and plays a crucial role as we enter new markets. We're looking for a dedicated stock plan resource to join our team to manage all aspects of our Global Equity program including new grants, equity transactions, grant cancellations, ESPP and employee education. You will report to the Head of Total Rewards and can be based remotely.

What You’ll Be Doing:

At DigitalOcean, we move fast and focus on delivering great outcomes. We are scrappy problem-solvers and customer-focused professionals. Your success in this role includes:

  • Administer the day-to-day operations of DO equity plans globally (stock options, RSUs and ESPP), including:
    • Respond quickly to employee questions related to the equity plans, tax withholdings, transactions,  eligibility, and overall user experience
    • Own the relationship with our equity plan software system (currently Fidelity) to ensure program compliance
    • Partner with external teams to process all equity plan transactions (grants, exercises, dispositions, transfers, releases, etc.)
    • Reconcile transactions, termination dates, tax withholdings and reporting, and other items
    • Coordinate the approval of new equity grants, including partnering with our various internal teams (People, Legal, Tax and Accounting) and Board members
    • Ensure global equity reporting and compliance with international tax and regulatory requirements, including Form 3921
    • Prepare reports for equity plan tracking and coordinate with the management team
  • Develop and provide education to our employees on equity compensation
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations between EEO and payroll, GL, transfer agent, etc.
  • Partner with other Total Rewards team members to incorporate equity summaries and trends into routine and ad-hoc reporting
  • Support various compensation cycles (e.g. promotion, merit, and bonus) with equity analytics that help drive informed decision making across our leadership team
  • Participate in equity compensation-related matters in connection with M&A opportunities
  • Work on special projects as required
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
  • 5+ years of stock administration experience at a global public company
  • A bias for action, attention to detail, and a positive customer-focused attitude
  • Experience with the Fidelity platform and other major third-party equity software systems and brokerage firms
  • Understanding of U.S. federal, state and global equity taxation
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance matters related to equity programs and taxation
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP and SOX
  • Experience building employee equity education programs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, efficiently prioritize tasks, and adhere to critical deadlines
  • Confident working with various levels of management and handling highly confidential data
  • Advanced Excel/GoogleSheets skills (i.e. pivot tables, vlookup, macros)
Why You’ll Like Working for DigitalOcean:
  • We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $110,000 based on relevant years of experience and skills. Employees may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees including grants of equity upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
  • We value development. You will work with some of the smartest and most interesting people in the industry. We are a high-performance organization that is always challenging our teams and employees to continuously grow. We maintain a growth mindset in everything we do and invest deeply in employee development through formalized mentorship and other internal programs. We provide all employees with reimbursement for relevant conferences, training, and education.
  • We care about your well-being. In addition to cash and equity compensation, we also offer employees a competitive array of benefits. In the United States, these include health insurance, flexible vacation, retirement benefits, a generous parental leave program, and additional resources to support employees' overall well-being. While the philosophy around our benefits is the same worldwide, specific benefits may vary in other countries due to local regulations and preferences.
  • We value diversity and inclusivity. We are an equal opportunity employer and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
