Location: US, Remote (East Coast Preferred)

Hours: 9am-6pm EST. We strive to create a supportive and flexible working environment for all team members. This role will play a key part in our holiday time during Q4 (our busiest and most exciting time of year) and hours during this time may be longer than the rest of the year.

Compensation: We feel passionately about transparency in compensation. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $85,000-95,000, with an annual target bonus of 25%.

Snappy is looking for an amazing addition to our Partnerships & Curation team. The Senior Category Manager position plays a vital role in bringing the best gifts to Snappy’s lineup while driving scale, revenue and margins for Snappy. 

The Senior Category Manager will source and manage vendor partnerships to maintain a reliable and relevant vendor network. They will negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to increase profitability while maintaining competitive pricing for customers. They will stay up to date on market trends and customer preferences to provide an assortment of collections that delight customers and drive GMV growth for Snappy. They will report to the Director of Category Management. 

You Will:

  • Utilize your retail experience to develop and implement an assortment strategy for a given set of categories that achieves revenue and profitability goals. 
  • Own all business aspects and be the subject matter expert of your assigned key categories. This includes full oversight over your product catalog inclusive of administrative tasks needed to add new products, approve pricing and maintain assortment health.  
  • Use data to fill white space in our collections and ensure strong partner representation and quality of assortment in key items and categories.  
  • Prospect new brands by evaluating their fit for the business, relaying the value of partnering with Snappy, and educating them on the platform. Oversee relevant inbound requests as well. 
  • Communicate with existing partners to review newness, optimize assortments and pricing, and align on expectations. Build and maintain long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships. Initiate periodic check-ins with partners to review high-level business and discuss opportunities for expansion. 
  • Execute a pricing strategy that protects profitability and prioritizes being competitively priced.
  • Review trends in the market and apply relevant learnings to our Snappy catalog to stay fresh & relevant.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Data, and Curation in order to execute on everyday and larger-scale projects.

You Are:

  • A networking pro who is well-versed in how to build/maintain both large and small partnerships. 
  • An effective communicator who can negotiate and lead calls with Senior Management at Brands, Distributors and Retailers.
  • A team player who has experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Able to make decisions with limited data and information and are comfortable working autonomously to hit your and company goals. 
  • Someone with a flexible mindset who can reprioritize work as needed to maximize impact.
  • An individual with a strong sense of business ownership and a desire to win. 
  • A knowledgeable individual with enthusiasm for emerging technology (e.g., AI), trends, innovations, and the competitive landscape.
  • Able to effectively challenge the status quo and discover opportunities for continuous development and improvement of our team, methods, interactions, and projects.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of retail experience preferably in Buying, Account Management or Category Management. E-commerce and marketplace experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in retail math and intermediate negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with Mirakl, Salesforce, Tableau and/or other similar marketplace, CRM and reporting tools.
  • A proven track record of using  data and reporting to inform assortment strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills to influence and maintain successful vendor relationships.
