Position Overview

The Senior Experience Designer is an innovative thinker and passionate about creating compelling user experiences in core Autodesk products that are used and loved by millions of customers.  You will assist in the creation of engaging and user-friendly data products for the AEC software industry. You will work with a team of developers, analysts, and product managers to design and deliver data-driven solutions that help our clients make better decisions and optimize their workflows. You will also collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency and quality across our products. 

You will report to the Director, Experience Design and will dotted line to our Director, Product Management on our Experience Analytics, Product Analytics Team (XAPA). We help Autodesk software teams with their customer-facing Analytics by way of reporting, analysis, in-product analytics and development of data products. This is a hybrid/remote position with a preference for candidates in the Toronto area who are willing to partner in person as needed. Our Toronto offices are located in the Mars building on University.

Responsibilities  

• Design and prototype innovative and ground-breaking data products that meet the needs and expectations of multiple audiences, including users, product management, software development, and content design

• Apply data visualization best practices and principles to create clear and compelling data stories

• Be hands-on with data, transforming complex data sets into intuitive visual representations that tell compelling stories

• Collaborate with technical teams to ascertain the feasibility of design implementations within our technology ecosystem

• Use a variety of tools and techniques to create interactive and responsive data interfaces

• Follow and contribute to our design system and guidelines

• Participate in user research activities during the planning, strategy development, and early design of solutions

Minimum Qualifications  

• 5+ years experience in user centered design practice

• A portfolio that demonstrates your skills and experience in data visualization and data product design 

• Evidence of specialization in the area of data science or visualization (coursework, degrees, work experience) 

• Ability to simplify complex data and present to varied audiences 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Experience with software such as Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, etc. 

• Experience designing resilient, cloud-based experiences

• Strong knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout

• Experience with Agile software design methods

• Experience with Autodesk products, manufacturing processes, and/or other sophisticated 3D modeling software
