Aveni is an award-winning FinTech company that specialises in Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions for Financial Services. Our team of world-leading scientists and engineers have developed an NLP platform that extracts context from customer conversations. This powers a range of transformative product features, including an AI-powered advice assistant, Consumer Duty management, automated compliance monitoring, the identification of vulnerable customers, enhanced consumer insights, and performance management of call centre agents and advisers.
Purpose of the role

To aid our continued growth, we are looking for a back end focussed Software Engineer with the ability to work across the full stack when needed. You will have significant involvement in the continual evolution of our products, working collaboratively with the team to improve and develop our technology.

The role will focus on the development of our Aveni Detect back-end services, helping to rebuild our processing pipelines, improving our CICD processes, creating and managing AWS infrastructure running the SaaS platform and CICD, building integrations with 3rd party systems, solving authentication challenges, improving our automated testing and improving our platform observability.

Key responsibilities

Collaborate closely with peers in our remote cross functional team of Engineers, Product Owner, UX Designers and NLP Engineers
Design and deliver well tested, robust platform services and pipelines
Contribute to the continual improvement of the scalability, security and observability of our platform to support our growing customer base
Participate in the improvement of the developer experience
Extend our 3rd party system integrations and marketplace offerings
Lead technical collaboration and integration with prospective clients
Embrace team agile practices and contribute to the continual improvement of our processes and engineering culture

Requirements

Experience using TypeScript to build robust and secure serverless services and APIs
Proven experience working with AWS cloud-native services and monitoring tools
Customer-focused mindset to understand the business objectives and translate these to forward thinking features that will delight our users
Automation first approach to engineering, testing and delivery with exposure to DevOps principles. We build it, ship it and own it
Experience following Agile working practices and contributing to a high performing engineering culture
Passion for collaboration, skill sharing and mentoring to raise the skills in the team
Ideally experience working in a multi-tenant SaaS start-up environment
Interest in NLP and Machine learning
As we are a small team, willingness to work across the stack when needed with React experience would be beneficial

Automated Testing using Jest and Vitest
