Assistant Counsel (Remote)

Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Counsel to join our Legal team on a hybrid schedule in our Plymouth, MN office or remotely nationwide. The Assistant Counsel is responsible for administration and coordination of non-claim legal issues, including providing legal advice, representation and research. **

Responsibilities**

• Provides legal advice on company related issues based on research and analysis.
• Communicates with regulators in a broad range of contexts to advance and protect the companywide interests.
• Prepares various responses, opinions and memoranda on legal issues including subpoenas, regulatory inquires and required reports. Creates opinions as to permissible courses of conduct.
• Independently conducts legal research for responses to legal, regulatory and reporting issues. Researches legal issues that assist senior management, marketing, investment and accounting functions.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of the legal system and developing legal and regulatory issues.
• Must have proven planning, decision making, problem solving, analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
• Must be capable to work both independently and as a highly collaborative member of a team. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Education And Experience

• Bar admission required and 3-5 years of experience preferably within the insurance industry.

_Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $104,000 – $146,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $131,000 -$153,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include: 401(k) savings and annual contributions of up to 12% of annual salary, competitive paid time off programs, medical, vision and dental plans, mental health support programs, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave and a variety of voluntary benefits.
