This position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist with the maintenance of Avalara AvaTax for Communications tax engine, including determination of taxability of new SKU’s and setting tax exemptions

  • Manage complex telecommunications and indirect tax audits to reduce reliance on third parties for these services

  • Assist with review of monthly, quarterly, and annual telecommunications tax and FCC filings

  • Serve as day to day contact for communications tax matters for the Company’s billing system upgrades / implementation

  • Advise on the taxation setup of new products in the tax engine as needed

  • Respond to customer questions on invoice taxation and tax exemptions as needed

  • Evaluate telecommunications tax processes, and develop and implement process improvements

  • Work with various business teams to ensure compliance with communications tax returns in quoting and billing processes

  • Assist with various ad hoc tax projects as needed

Skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar field; CPA and/or Master's Degree in Tax / Accounting preferred

  • Minimum 10+ years of tax experience, with US multinational company or public accounting firm

  • US telecom tax experience a MUST

  • Experience with telecommunications tax applications, including Avalara AvaTax for Communications (required) and CCH Suretax (preferable)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Can take ownership and work with minimal supervision

  • Strong initiative, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively

  • Strong proficiency / expertise with Microsoft Office including Excel

  • Demonstrates willingness to accept challenging projects outside areas of experience

The compensation range reflects the Company’s good faith belief at the time of posting. 8x8 has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Further, individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience, knowledge, success, education and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including discretionary merit increases, bonus and/or stock. Certain roles have the opportunity to earn sales variable compensation incentives based on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.

Salary Ranges:

$114,000.00 - $233,750.00
