The Strategy Advancement Advisor provides data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities. Provides business intelligence and strategic planning support for business segments or the company at large. The Strategy Advancement Advisor works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial, supporting the Group Benefits business.

The Strategy Advancement Advisor leads initiatives to analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret, and produce recommendations and plans based on company and external data analysis. Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads Consulting engagements to analyze and improve the effectiveness of Group Benefits Distribution, Product, Partnership & Technology initiatives. Make recommendations regarding processes, market development, role and responsibility clarification and efficiencies to Market leadership.
  • Leads Benefit Placement, Administration and Enrollment Technology partnerships from inception through implementation and manages the relationship in perpetuity. This includes defining the market opportunity, conducting financial analysis of the partnerships (value realized), managing contractual obligations and partnering with Distribution, Underwriting and Group Benefit Operations (GBO) on management of the relationship.
  • Leads and implements the annual Sales Planning & Goal setting process in partnership with Regional Vice Presidents, Directors of Sales, Directors of Client Management & Corporate Finance. This also includes any goal revisions, add/terms in staff and new role planning
    • Provides strategic guidance with respect to market opportunity based on network adequacy, market partnerships, national agreements, historical performance and sales associate competencies.

  • Supports the annual sales associate compensation design process to understand strategic objectives, levers of incentivization, new product offerings and budgeting process.
  • Partner with the Associate Vice President, Strategy Advancement on the design, coordination, and management strategic initiatives, as defined or necessary throughout the strategic planning process.
  • May directly lead other associates to support future growth of the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree; MBA a plus
  • 8 or more years of technical experience (This can include any experience in Strategic consulting, Project management, Financial Analysis, Change management, Group Benefits Sales, Market Development or Business Analysis)
  • 2 or more years of project leadership experience
  • Experience working with a Group Insurance carrier preferred.
  • Experience coordinating the activities of diverse functions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations
  • Proven track record in developing working relationships and influencing throughout the matrix environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in plan development, analytics and reporting
  • Proactive, flexible and always seeking improvement and positive change
  • Ability to work well in a team development setting
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, multi-task and deliver quality work under pressure
  • Demonstrated success in the planning and helping with implementation of across-the-board process improvement initiatives to include both tactical and strategic-level projects
  • Ability to think analytically, apply analytical techniques and provide in-depth analysis of technical process, business process or raw data and make recommendations to management using critical thinking and sound judgment 
  • High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

  • Strategic mindset with critical thinking skills to connect disparate dots and overcome ambiguity. Ability to evaluate and solve problems with rigorous logic that pushes beyond the obvious to uncover root cause issues and creative solutions
  • Adept at forming strong relationships with diverse teams and personalities through effective trust building and collaboration.  Strength in persuading multiple parties to align around one vision, and exudes the confident to drive execution and adoption.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (including reporting and presentations) with demonstrated ability to use language that is succinct and clear and, when appropriate, strengthens sales positioning and emphasizes customer value
  • Highly organized, and skilled at project management. Comfort managing several different initiatives at one time and prioritizing efforts that deliver the greatest return for the business, all while leveraging standard methodologies, tools and platforms that promote the collective efficiency and effectiveness of our Sales Strategy & Operations organization.
  • Experience leading and facilitating sessions where content is delivered and change management and adoption techniques are deployed
  • Intellectual curiosity with excellent listening skills and a passion for learning
  • Outcome orientation with the ability to use data to establish quantifiable success criteria and measure progress toward targeted results, such as improvements to sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Change Leadership. Experience driving large scale change initiatives.
  • Experience with Group Benefits Products (i.e. Dental, Vision, Life, Disability products)

Work at Home/Remote Requirements

·       WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

·       A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.  

·       Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

·       A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$112,400 - $154,900 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
