Job Title: Certification Manager – Signage, Road Markings, VRS

About the role:
Do you have a Mechanical or Civil Engineering background with an understanding of materials used within construction such as composites, concrete, or reflective materials? This could be via Manufacturing, Product Testing, Product Certification or Product Simulation.

Here at BSI, we're looking for a Certification Manager within our Transport & Infrastructure certification team. In this role you will report to the Certification Team Manager and will be responsible for the effective management and development of a portfolio of schemes including Signage, Road Markings & Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS).

You’ll ensure BSI delivers a high quality “right first time” product evaluation to maintain client satisfaction and delivery of commercial targets. You’ll have the opportunity to represent BSI at Trade Shows, Technical Committees and Client Visits.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working 36-hours a week, Monday to Friday.

The position can be remote based within the UK with occasional travel to our Hemel Hempstead Laboratory.   

Responsibilities:
  • To ensure certification applications are processed timely and effectively, and technical reports are reviewed.
  • Ensuring accurate certification recommendations are made.
  • Delivery of projects, ensuring project plans are maintained accurately.
  • Where required represents BSI’s interests with external bodies (e.g. standards committees and notified body working groups) as required.
  • Proactively identifies new and/or amended product standards/directives and ensures BSI’s certification schemes are kept up to date and relevant to current market needs.
  • Proactively develops and maintain excellent relationships with current and potential clients.
  • May act as account manager for several key clients with opportunities for occasional global travel.

To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • HNC/HND/Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical subject such as Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • Ideally you will hold an understanding of materials used within construction or transport & infrastructure products such as composites, concreate, reflective materials and with familiarity of UKCA marking.
  • Relevant experience gained within a product manufacturing, testing or certification environment.
  • Experience within Transport & Infrastructure including vehicle restraint systems, signage, road markings and their standards such as BS EN 1317, BS EN 1436.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant product-related legislation and European Directives.
  • Knowledge of the quality requirements detailed in relative international good-practice documents (such as ISO 17065, ISO 17025).
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
  • Experience in monitoring budgets and maintaining cost control.
