Senior Accountant - Hybrid Remote | WFH

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our rapidly expanding team at a dynamic Distribution Company operating across 13 states. This unique opportunity, based in the Greater Atlanta Area, offers a blend of remote work (3 days per week) and in-office collaboration. As a key member of our Corporate Accounting Team, you will play a crucial role as the right hand to the Controller/CFO, with a clear path for advancement to a supervisory position within two years. **

Responsibilities**

As a Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Inventory Accounting and Reconciliation:
• Manage all aspects of inventory accounting and reconciliations, including core accounts.
• Collaborate with inventory teams across various locations to ensure accuracy in inventory general ledgers and subledgers.
• Journal Entries and Financial Maintenance:
• Allocate, update, and post recurring journal entries related to workers' compensation, 401k allocation, inventory reserve, and other prepaid expenses.
• Conduct regular ledger maintenance to reconcile specific balance sheet accounts.
• Cash Management and Troubleshooting:
• Assist the staff accountant in resolving cash discrepancies promptly.
• Troubleshoot petty cash files and address cash application errors, short pays, and payment issues.
• Month-End Close and Intercompany Transactions:
• Support the month-end close process and manage intercompany transactions effectively.
• Cross Training and Support:
• Cross-train in all systems and functions across the organization to provide support and knowledge when needed.
• Provide technical support and advice on general ledger account posting to accounts payable and accounts receivable teams.
• Process Improvement and Documentation:
• Identify errors, propose efficiency improvements, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
• Collaboration and Reporting:
• Liaise with the Controller to enhance financial procedures.
• Collaborate on the preparation of monthly management reports, including variance reports.
• Research and Analysis:
• Research complex accounting transactions upon management's requests.
• Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of inventory experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on core inventory accounting.
• Hands-on experience in preparing financial statements, financial analysis, and cost accounting. Budgeting and forecasting experience is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
