Title: Sr. Site Reliability Engineer
Location: Nashville, TN area (remote to start)
Duration: 6 month contract, extendable

A Senior Site Reliability Engineer is a role that is responsible for transforming traditional IT operations by utilizing software engineering practices allowing for increased colleague efficiency and environment performance. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing innovative systems and processes that create visibility into the performance of critical environments, remediate issues before they arise, and influence the overall success of IT initiatives. By providing your expertise in software engineering practices, you will be improving experience at the enterprise and colleague level through the automation of key processes. In addition to your technical expertise, you will serve as a role model and leader to other team members, providing your technical guidance as they learn and progress.

Responsibilities

Designs and implements automated systems to provision, configure, and update VMs, containers, and other virtual infrastructure Architects, builds, and improves an innovative observability platform that collects and aggregates IT services metrics allowing for real time analysis and automated response to environment stability issues before they arise
Collaborates with other engineering teams to design scalable and sustainable systems architectures
Guides and instructs software engineering teams on exposing appropriate data points to provide clear availability and performance metrics
Builds software to increase efficiency among other colleagues or improve external customer experience
Utilizes software engineering and DevOps engineering experience to maintain and improve environment stability and performance
Exposes forecasted capacity and cost for data center or cloud infrastructure resources allowing for capacity planning and budgeting
Engineers solutions to reduce infrastructure costs utilizing both on premises and cloud resources
Mentors other team members and guides them in the execution of their duties
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Qualifications

Education required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Years of experience required: 3-5 years experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps engineering, or software engineering
Works to achieve operational targets, which has impact on the overall achievement of results for the team and the department
Work is completed with minimal supervision with review other other’s work
Influences others within and outside of job function, and may communicate with external stakeholders
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong capability in architecting highly available, scalable systems supporting enterprise applications and teams
