This position requires an onsite presence at Synergy Headquarters, located in Reston VA. The role requires 2 days onsite and 3 days remote. Thursday of every week is mandatory to be in office, the candidate can choose the other onsite day as preferred. The remaining 3 days can be done remotely.
Candidates must reside in commuting distance to be considered for the role.
Description:
- Creates and edits technical and other business documentation, reports and creates presentations, such as user manuals, training materials reports, whitepapers, Web content, online help, etc.
- Confers with subject matter experts and others to collect and organize information required for creation of documentation. Conducts documentation and audience needs analysis and recommends appropriate approach and deliverables to project managers.
- Assists others with appropriate phrasing for document content. Plans documentation development process and coordinates writing projects.
- Manages multiple document review cycles and maintains change control for documents as needed. Completes writing assignments according to organizational standards regarding order, style, terminology, and format.
- Selects photographs, illustrations, charts, etc. to illustrate material as appropriate. May develop presentations and graphics or assist others in doing so. May support training development and delivery. May maintain documentation repository.
Essential Functions & Duties:
- Has great time management skills and strong communication
- Ability to meet time critical deadlines
- Writing daily, monthly, and quarterly status reports.
- Writing application specifications and user manuals.
- Willing to perform Support Help Desk duties as needed.
- Working with team members to collect content, followed by consolidation of the content, grammar checking, and writing/formatting improvements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop a strong, functional, up-to-date, and well-curated internal knowledge base.
- Writing reports and proposals for audiences of varying levels, project leads to business executives utilizing MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Writing Knowledge Base articles and creating standard document and report templates
- Work closely SMEs to build out internal documentation sites and solicit accurate information.
- Deliver accurate functional documentation on time and with a high degree of quality.
- Document best practices across the organization in real time
Skills, Qualifications and Certifications of Best Candidates:
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a writing-intensive field or significant work experience in a fast-paced enterprise technology-development environment
- Strong team-player attributes with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Strong time-management and prioritization skills
- Information gathering and interviewing skills
- Experience in developing internal business and technical documentation
- Comfort with changing dynamic software development situation
- Experience in capturing and maintaining institutional knowledge
- Expert user-level knowledge of MS Office tools (at least MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint).
- Experience in using enterprise-grade bug tracking systems such as Jira
- Experience in using Atlassian Confluence to maintain document libraries
- Experience in Section 508 accessibility standards/Trusted Tester Certification
- Experience in Agile environments
- Good communication skills – ability to capture information from users reporting incidents and write the information in tickets.
- Ability to follow test scripts to perform manual testing of applications and record test results.

Compensation for roles at Synergy varies depending on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to the requirements of the role; education and certifications; knowledge, training, skills and abilities; level of experience; geographic location; and alignment with market data, law, and other business and organizational needs. As required by local law, the posted pay range represents the lowest to the highest pay that Synergy believes in good faith it might pay for this particular job, depending on the circumstances. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is: $40,000 – $62,000.
Essential Job Function Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position are critical in evaluating the qualifications and abilities of an applicant or employee.
